Does this make me URM?

I'm a healthy mix of Cherokee/Native American, Asian-Indian, and Caucasian ... does this classify me as an URM?

Exactly. Plus you wouldn't want to be haunted by a Warren-esque gaffe should you decide to run for the Senate (although it is possible that, like her, could could overcome it.)rebexness wrote:If you can't prove tribal affiliation, I think you are SOL.jkbrad11 wrote:Thanks for the quick reply..I know Harvard contacted me and was interested through CRS because of the NA side..but I can't prove affiliation with a tribe because my great grandfather refused to sign the rolls and then lived off the land.. regardless..thanks!
I don't know for sure, but I've heard that the amount that schools care about tribal ID varies from school to school and that there might still be a smaller boost at schools that do care for NAs without tribal ID. Obviously not as ideal as having tribal ID, but better than nothing.rebexness wrote:If you can't prove tribal affiliation, I think you are SOL.jkbrad11 wrote:Thanks for the quick reply..I know Harvard contacted me and was interested through CRS because of the NA side..but I can't prove affiliation with a tribe because my great grandfather refused to sign the rolls and then lived off the land.. regardless..thanks!
If you're only 1/8 NA why so gung-ho to claim it? No tribal ID, probably no connection to NA culture/history at all... as a URM things like this make me mad. I do not want you to feel like I'm attacking you; I personally have a friend who is 1/8 hispanic, speaks no spanish, doesn't know any hispanic people (besides his gardener) - but used it to get into our school despite having subpar numbers. It cheapens the mission of URM boosts.jkbrad11 wrote:Thanks for the quick reply..I know Harvard contacted me and was interested through CRS because of the NA side..but I can't prove affiliation with a tribe because my great grandfather refused to sign the rolls and then lived off the land.. regardless..thanks!
