GPA- 3.48
LSAT- 164
Mexican American
1st generation
single mom (I got pregnant my first semester of college at 18)
below poverty line
Please do not be rude, or mean, but realistic. I will be submitting a URM along with my Personal Statement, and an addendum to address a specific semester when my dad passed away. One LOR is from a district attorney I interned for, and another one is from a professor I was extremely close with. (so two strong letters)

Maybe a shot at lower T-14. But your target range is 14-20.
I would apply to strong regional schools in your area, as well as ED to some lower T-14's.

Pls retake. I had some the same stats before retaking and getting a 171. Even as a URM you stand to benefit a great deal from a retake.

Especially as a URM. The upside is even greater.

I was going to try to take the Oct. LSAT. and shoot for a 168. I would love to attend Boalt or UCLA/USC.

Boalt is very grade-heavy and a 3.48 is below their 25th percentile. UCLA and USC are fine options and they'll take a URM at a 168 without looking twice.

If you hit the LSAT median at ANY school, you're in, except maybe Stanford.

Boalt does tend to favor grades over LSAT. They are also the only school that will take a GRE in lieu of an LSAT.
So just shoot for a higher LSAT, and stellar essays and I should be safe?

they would take a GRE in lieu of an LSAT? Where did you get that information?

I may have missed this but is she trying for a T14? Because if not then she is probably solid for anything between 15-50.

ED NYU?
You could probably get USC right now, and UCLA is a few points up from there, but I wouldn't attend either at sticker.

I read it in a interview with the Dean. Boalt is one of the few law schools that have been public about wanting to get rid of the LSAT.

T14 is desirable, however schools that are 15-50 aren't bad either.

Thank you, very helpful! UCLA is very tricky with acceptance, well so I have heard. My friend who got into Columbia was rejected from UCLA...

are you sure that wasn't a reference to joint degree programs?

3.48 for a URM is fine at Boalt provided the LSAT is high enough.

congrats on everything that you have accomplished. If you don't retake, I see you getting in to many great places. However, retaking would put you into even BETTER places, and probably with more MONEY. Plus, it couldn't hurt to just study and retake, anyways.

I am studying right now to retake. Studying on my own, spending 5 hours doing 20 questions. then after mastering my approach I picked up my speed. Any advice on how to raise a 164?

Not to sure, I just read that Boalt takes another exam (GRE) besides the LSAT. I've read it several places, don't remember where.
