Title explains it pretty well. I come from a very religious state (Texas) and I am clearly a minority in that sense. Other than that, I'm 100% white.

I also come from a very poor background (negative familial assistance, worked through college) and wondering how I can neutralize my financial disadvantage because it seems the only ones that are able to benefit from being socially disadvantaged are non-white people, even if our economic/social backgrounds are equally disadvantaged. I've noticed some talk about LGBT diversity statements so I figured this was worthy of a threat topic.

I really expected a more intelligent or at least open minded group of people from this forum. I get my moral compass from the some place you do, from my culture, my own values, from the mutual benefit we get as a species and a society to behave as good human beings. I don't need an all-knowing space daddy to tell me not to be a bad person. If anything, I have a stronger sense of morality than you do because I am a good person based on my own accord, not out of fear or through external guidance.

Please tell me there is just a really active and on-the-ball troll community here and that the majority of posters aren't this bigoted/dumb...

all human culture and values descend from religion..its only a matter of what religion it descends from...since you are atheist, by definition you cant have values or culture

The ancient Greeks had one of the most sophisticated cultures this world has ever seen and plenty of its highest intellects were atheist. Values descended from religion? I think the main issue here is that atheists aren't under represented, they're just minorities.
