Top Law Schools

Anyone heard back yet? I applied for the one for Cornell and haven't heard a word. I believe they said students would be notified by 6/1.

I applied two weeks ago and heard back on Monday from the recruitment person at the sponsoring firm...my guess would be that whoever's sponsoring Cornell hasn't made a decision yet.

I applied on the deadline day (5/10) and heard back positively on Monday (5/21). My school sponsor gave a notification deadline of 5/20. Since that fell on a Sunday, I got an email the next day.

If you don't mind me asking - what is the typical range in $ for these scholarships?

They're actually just paying for students to attend the 6-day Law Preview class sessions. I think it's worth around $1100 for the class.

But, they're not paying for housing, travel or food. Depending on whether you're lucky enough to be based in the city were they have a class session, it'll likely cost another several hundred out of your own pocket.

I got a new job shortly after I applied for the scholarship, so taking off work would mean losing another few hundred dollars - and missing some administrative things I'm responsible for...doesn't really make sense anymore to do it in light of the job.

While you're receiving a $1100-ish class, you'll probably be out about the same amount after the travel expenses and lost income.

Question: For those of you who received a scholarship but have decided not to participate because of inconvenience/location/travel costs etc., what's the protocol on notifying the sponsoring firm? Are you just going to no show at program start, or did you let them know you've decided not to attend...if the latter, what reason did you give??

if i were you i'd try to tell them asap. what if there's time to give the scholarship to someone else that wants it?
