Asians are "students of color."

technically, i think, asians are "of color."Omberon wrote:So, I just finished sitting in on some classes at Harvard Law, and man I must say, Harvard really disappointing me with its diversity. Absolutely NO Diversity. For a school who boosts about how diverse they campus is I only saw Asians (including people from the middle east of course) and Whites. It's almost false advisement to say 37 percent of the campus is of "color".
You're right. Because of this outrageous injustice you shouldn't go to HARVARD. Protest that stuff man!Omberon wrote:Guys, diversity is more than just people of "color". My main point was that it is childish to imply that having Asians as a large bulk of "students of color" borders on false advertising.Omberon wrote:Guys, diversity is more than just people of "color". Think about it: if AAs make up 15% of the population and 15% of Harvard Law's student body then they aren't URMs, are they? Why do you think there's a URM boost? There's a dearth of by-the-numbers qualified AAs, MAs, and PRs...Omberon wrote:Guys, diversity is more than just people of "color". It's about having a wide representative spectrum of people. What's a PA? Polish-American?
You literally saw ZERO African Americans and Hispanics?Omberon wrote:Curious1 wrote:IBT discussion about AA, but just because OP sat in on ONE class doesnt mean there are no URMS at Harvard...
Reread my post CAREFULLY next time, I state that I sat in on several classes over the past 2 weeks.
What are you talking about?Omberon wrote:It's actually more I have been reading it is now 21 percent.
That's why they're billed as UNDER-represented minorities. I sense some sour grapes coming from OP here. Did we not get in despite being Hispanic?Omberon wrote:englawyer wrote:there are a reasonable number of african americans on campus. HLS is really lacking hispanics though.
Good point Hispanics are some where about 17 percent of the US population and Harvard law is what?
i would say that the boost is there to narrow, not close the gap. closing the gap would probably go too far. but anyway, for eyeball percentage, i would say like 1-2 per section for around 2-3%bee wrote:Dude. Yep. Sour grapes indeed. Sorry bro, but one of my good friends is Mexican, and managed to get a 3.88 and a 180 from HYP (and got into H and S so far)...if you did that you would've gotten in. So whose fault is it?From OP:
Is a 165 on the LSAT and a 3.65 GPA good enough for HYS? What are my chances?
Puerto Rican,
Good Softs, and extracurriculars, first gen in my family to go to college and law school.
Really hesitant to go anywhere else especially with the economy,
Thanks,
Well that may have been a wise decision to save the ~$300 on your part.Omberon wrote:No duh. Do you really think I would be posting on an under represented minorities page and NOT know that. And you are Wrong again. I have not even applied, two in row and you still are wrong. Just leave, don't bother posting if going to be so wrong about everything.Curious1 wrote:That's why they're billed as UNDER-represented minorities. I sense some sour grapes coming from OP here. If those were my numbers and I got into a lower T14 school I'd be grateful.Curious1 wrote:Yep. Sour grapes indeed. LOL because TLS just loves hypos.Omberon wrote:I have not even taken to the LSAT, if you check my profile I have two posts one with LSAT of 170 and one with an LSAT of 165. It was all theoretical. This pisses me off. Many applicants with much stronger numbers would happily go to one of CCN, MVPB, or DNCG.From OP:

I totally just read that thread. All kinds of butthurt in there. Unreasonable stubbornness is probably not a good trait to have for law school (or life).bee wrote:OH GOD you started THIS thread.Omberon wrote:I have not even taken to the LSAT, if you check my profile I have two posts one with LSAT of 170 and one with an LSAT of 165. Also that's funny, because you never mentioned it all being theoretical in that thread either. A thread in the What Are My Chances forum. In addition, maybe I just wasn't scouring your post history closely enough, but how the fuck are we supposed to know from your random 2 threads that you hadn't taken the LSAT? What if you had been a retaker?
