I've posted this in the chance section, but I think i'll put it here again for some other ideas.

I'm an international student from China, so I think no strong preference for law school locations. Gay friendly schools are slightly preferred. I have no working experience.

Can anyone let me know where to apply? Do you guys think I should ed anywhere?

Thanks in advance

It's a grade-level for international applicants.

Good one, though.

When evaluating foreign applicants' transcripts, LSAC doesn't summarize them into an LSAC GPA, instead assigning them a rating. "Superior" is the top rating they give to foreign transcripts.

So yes, it's probably very likely he was born and bred for success and achievement.

Well, I guess you learn something new every day.

Come on, you need to know these things if you ever want to get into Stanford.

I think I'll transfer to Samford University.

With a Superior, you have an excellent shot everywhere, and the only thing that would keep you out of, say, Harvard or Yale would be your LSAT score. I think you would have a very good shot at Berkeley and perhaps Stanford (notoriously GPA-heavy and seemingly gay friendly), but honestly if you can retake for a 171+ I think that would be worthwhile if you're interested in the very top schools.

Good luck!

Sorry for the ambiguity. Yes superior is one of the GPA descriptions given by LSAC, among "below average" "average" "above average" and "superior".

And do I qualify for URM status (for being an asian gay) if I'm not an american citizen?

sexual orientation is not a URM thing, and asian seems to get a URM boost. Berkeley seems like the place for you btw

:?: :?: :?:

I'm assuming typo since JMJ knows better. Asians are ORM. And even if you were AA or Mexican, it doesn't seem like internationals get too much of a URM boost.

Your GPA will be more or less a soft since they won't disclose it to USNWR. Shoot for the highest LSAT you can get because it's the only number that will matter. You're not Berkeley secure and I don't think you'll even be looked at by the Stansbury of the West with that LSAT. 172+ is the only way to guarantee T14, although I will concede that Berkeley and Cornell will most likely both give you good looks.

What US GPA does Superior correspond to? And Above-average?

Uh, well they're not going to convert your marks to a GPA, but if you just want to know as like a public service sort of thing,
  • A 90–100 3.5–4.0
    B 80–89 2.5–3.49
    C 70–79 1.5–2.49
    D 60–69 1.0–1.49
    F 0–59 0.0–0.99
With the first number corresponding to the percentage you have in the class and the latter range typically corresponding to the GPA. It's not totally accurate, though, since straight A-s should net you a 3.7 at the lowest, so to get a 3.5 there would have to be some Bs mixed in there, and vice versa in that straight B+s would yield you a 3.3.

HTH.

Thanks a lot! Yes, there is a big range between 3.5-4 for Superior.
