I'm thrilled to have gotten admitted to UCLA and Berkeley but stumped as to what to do for Admitted Students Weekends. I planned to go to UCLA's diversity welcome weekend in April (which is all expense paid by UCLA). I just got into Berkeley this week and found out that Berkeley's only ASW is the SAME WEEKEND! Any idea if we can have travel costs defrayed if we visit UCLA a weekend other than the designated ASW? Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions you can give!

Are any of you considering diversity when deciding on a law school. I for one am all about the rankings (and $$) :D dont get me wrong, but lets say your choosing among the top 3, top 6, t10, do you stop and look at minority numbers? Is that important to you at all?
I'm in a similar position. Deciding between UChicago and UVA - Scholly is now almost the same at both so that's not a distinguishing factor any longer. There are aspects I really like about both, and some concerns with both as well. UChicago is ranked higher but both have strong rankings. How much weight do you place on fit/preference or is it all about the highest ranked school you're accepted into? The diversity numbers (not %'s) are slight at UChicago given the number of students. It's not an overriding factor, but I do find myself considering it as well.
I'm looking at Chicago with 75k vs. UVA with 90k. Once I got the Chicago offer, my mind was pretty much set on Chicago. The employment numbers they boast are just too good to turn down, and each student opinion I've consulted has been overwhelmingly positive. That leads me to my main point: it depends what you're looking for. In my case, I'm going to have to take out everything in loans that isn't covered by scholarships and I'm pretty much biglaw or bust at this point.

I have not received a JS1 yet... *fingers crossed that this week is URM interview/acceptance week at Harvard and Stanford*

And don't worry, sharktankdean. When operagrl posted about her JS1 (She and I are basically numbers twins and have had very similar cycles to this point), I was happy for her, freaked out about my own state and immediately wondered whether you, Miterrand or Justdoingmybest had gotten invites as well. The fact that you haven't either gives me some hope that there may be another wave somewhere down the line...

Random question: Does anyone know why the Yale application does not ask about race/heritage?

CRS will already have that information noted on your Academic Summary Report, if you elect to disclose your race, for Yale's adcoms.

Puerto-Rican 164 3.55

Waiting on:
Boston College Law School
Harvard Law School
University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law
New York University School of Law
Indiana University Maurer School of Law--Bloomington
university of pennsylvania law school
Vanderbilt University Law School
William & Mary Law School

Rejected at:
Boston University School of Law
University of California, Berkeley, School of Law
Columbia University School of Law
Cornell Law School
Duke University School of Law
Georgetown University Law Center
Northwestern University School of Law
University of Virginia School of Law

Waitlisted at:
The George Washington University Law School
Washington and Lee University School of Law

In at:
Fordham University School of Law (no money)
Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University ($40k a year guaranteed)

I knew I was going to be rejected at like 80% of the schools I applied to but was hoping for at least a WL at Georgetown or Cornell (or at least one T14 for that matter, I tried for the shotgun effect). But I figured with my numbers and the URM status I was a guaranteed in at Cardozo, Fordham, W&L, W&M, Maryland, and BC. Very upset that I got WL at W&L, very upset Fordham isn't giving me a dime. Going into this whole thing W&M was my first pick, unfortunately every day I don't get that congratulations e-mail makes me think I am heading for a rejection, same for BC, and Maryland (figured they were a safety).

As it stands now Cardozo is my only option (Fordham is not worth the $120,000 difference they want me to pay).

Maybe my application had some glaring error that turned everyone off. I don't know I had 2 people check my PS over they thought it was fine. Whatever it is my cycle feels like shit right now, and is probably going to turn worse.

Should have added I have an LSAC fee waiver, so the schools only cost $16 a pop to apply.

There adcoms, smart folks and can figure out if your URM. It was, however, a mis-step for you to not have not checked that box on the CRS main page. I would update it ASAP and maybe similar to when you submit a updated transcript, LSAC will generate a new Academic Summary Report for YLS.

it really really was. i lost hundreds of dollars applying to schools that would have waived my app fees. oh well, live and learn. i wonder if adding another rec letter will do the trick...hmmmm...

Thanks you guys! I really am amazed at my cycle, if I never found this board the highest up I would've applied is Emory

I really think I'm heading out west. If Harvard lets me in, a big plus is that it's closer to home, but I really think I prefer Stanford over Harvard overall though, not sure if that makes me strange

x3 (although I did end up applying to Emory as a safety)

I chose Stanford over Harvard even before the rankings. I didn't even apply to Harvard, even though my chances were probably better there given the class size. To quote annoying hipsters - I was a fan of Stanford before it got famous.

I preferred stanford over H before the rankings as well. I honestly thought I had no chance at either so it wasn't something I gave much thought too.

For one stanford is beautiful, weather is similar to where I'm from 2. they have a smaller class size, and seems to have better employment statistics because of it. At harvard it seems a few people manage to fall between the cracks, but not so at stanford.
