AA Male- 2.9/171 June Retake- Chance Me

Hi TLS, I know it's been a while since I last posted here but alot has changed since I last posted this,
http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 4&start=25.
LSAC recieved my last outstanding transcript and my GPA went from 3.06 to 2.9. So aside from being pissed, and asking them to please review my grades it stayed at 2.9. I didn't sit for the Oct., Dec. or Feb. test but I'm expecting to kick June's ass. My PT range has been consistently 175-180. Also factor in my 4 years WE at a Fortune top 5, decent other softs, great LOR's and evaluations.
In regards to this fall, do I have a shot at any T-10 aside from Yale, Stanford and Berkley if I hit anywhere in my current range? Or has the gpa drop below 3.0 crushed all of those aspirations? I'm not against ED'ing but I would prefer seeing how my cycle could go with all the schools I plan to apply to.
All feedback would be appreciated.

Northwestern is probably close to a lock with the LSAT and WE, but inside the T10, probably Michigan is your best bet. I think Harvard, Chicago, Columbia, NYU and UVA are known to enforce GPA floors. No idea on Penn. If you break 175 (and even if you don't) it's worth sending an app to all of them.

I'm certain Northwestern would be a lock, but I wasn't confident in obtaining another acceptance that would incline them to give me any scholly $$$. I'm hoping 175+ will get the attention of MVP that I can leverage. Longshot still tho.

It's a longshot, but regardless you might as well blanket the T-14 with apps. A $60 app fee isn't much compared to a scholarship. Also, if you break 175 and are a URM, you'll get fee waivers.

Trust me, if you're a URM (and an AA Male, especially), you'll be getting fee waivers WAY before you break 175. You'll get fee waivers at 155 or so, I'd say, but for sure at 160.
EDIT: and I'm talking from t4 on down (except, perhaps, Texas).

I would try everywhere, if you are anywhere near 175 with AA male status and WE, you should easily get a few schools in the t10. It is completely silly for me to guess right now which ones will jump. Admissions at tops schools are very much a crap shoot so apply to them all (and you will have fee waivers so no need to worry too much). Then see where you are. (Also its important to really polish those essays, that will really help you distance yourself from that gpa, especially since you are a few years out)...
For now though, stop thinking about this and just study your hardest, and focus on that test.

I got the same LSAT as OP and while I cannot speak for his study methods, I will swear by the PowerScore Logic Games bible. I went through it as the beginning portion of my studying (about 2 weeks) and then it was just repetition of old LSAT exams (under timed conditions). The games were like reading Arabic to me in the beginning, but the bible did a good job of teaching me how to construct my setup to every game scenario. I did not use the PowerScore book for LR, but I have heard good things about it as well......

As an AA male, that 171 would be a Godsend. If your GPA was higher, law schools would be your bitches.
If I were you, I would take easy classes for like 2 more years, pad your GPA, and apply. I dunno though. Meh.
