You guys realize you can just click the words that say "Bookmark Topic" rather than cluttering a thread with tags?

Its a lot easier to answer specific questions. I had a good OCI experience. I did over 40 interviews. I don't really want to recount them all.

Do you think it is easier at any stage of the process, whether that is getting an interview (I know this doesn't apply to many OCIs but I was thinking also of mass mailing), getting a callback, or getting a job, for minorities?

If yes, do you think the difference is significant?

If yes, do you think that having ethnic clubs on your resume makes a difference?

I'll bite. What type of school do you attend; t6, t14, etc? What was your class rank; top 5%, top 10%, etc?

Getting an interview is easier (in re lowered GPA requirement for preselects and ability to contact firms that dinged you and let them know you'd like reconsideration) and you have ready access to diversity receptions so overall yes. Callbacks impossible to know but presumably either the GPA leniency persists or even if they don't consider GPA at that point, you still have the advantage of being an attractive minority candidate. Identifying yourself as affiliated with an ethnic club is one of a very limited number of signals you can give a firm that you're a minority. If you want the potential bump at the initial interview stage, it's a good idea. On a related note, being part of your respective organization can never hurt and can help because I've heard from several practicing attorneys that they will raise the subject of your involvement during interviews and want to hear that you're involved.
