I am looking for advice on studying and what to do for summer 0L.
Any URMs do exceptionally well and would like to help the rest of us with tips?? What worked, what didn't for you?
Also any advice/remarks about OCI and employment in general?

Thanks!

No just wanted to get advice for people more like me thats all. They might look at it a little different.
Don't need to look at it negatively. People ask URMs what they think chances on getting in, how they like the school, how the classes are, etc. Why not how studying worked for them? Is that a bad thing??
are you even an URM? how is it akward?

"Um...finals were...inopportune. I did alright but the best thing to do is to find something that you think might work and STICK WITH IT. Don't switch back and forth or welch a little bit on the time you spend in the library and such...just do it.
I worked during my !L summer at a firm through SEO and have a job at a well regarded firm this summer.
Law school exams---take lots of practice exams. Lots.
Let me know if you have more questions."
I will respond later this afternoon with more questions of ask this user if you have any. Have an appt I dont want to be late for. I made this new thread here to help other people like myself. If it's an issue with some URMs and some non URMs then F it I will just do the research on my own.

Don't worry, I understand what you mean. You could try contacting the BLSA at your school.

I did well first semester basically looking at all of the guides on this forum (xeoh, arrow, etc.), and tried to form a hybrid of their methods that fit my particular strengths. I really don't know what else to tell you, it's not really how much you study, but how efficiently and focused you are when you study. I did not put in the hours some of my classmates did, yet I did better than a large majority of them, and they're no slouches.

If you're going to a school with a good BLSA, they usually provide forums and other ways to talk to upper level students about good study habits, exchange notes, etc. I don't think it's something we have to worry about now.

TITCR. There's too much stress in 1L to add in anymore during the summer beforehand.

as a URM i dont find it offensive at all. Sorry you feel that way. No different than me asking another URM on campus what his study habits are instead of a non URM.
SMH some people always ready to get defensive for no reason. If I wasn't an URM then I could understand where you are coming from. I know some people on these boards like to start drama especially with race but not on this thread. Let's keep things positive and on topic. thanks.

But I mean, it's a bit different. URM-specific questions about admissions make sense because URMs are treated in a distinct way in law school admissions. How they like the school/classes still makes a bit more sense than the question you asked, I think, because there are URM-specific issues there too. Asking how URMs how they study specifically just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, and apparently a few other people here, since they are being tested on the same material and graded on the same scale as everybody else.
