LSAT: 159
9+ years work experience. Worked full time while earning bachelor's and master's degree.
AA male

I know that 159 is a problem, but I retook and scored a couple of points lower, so it's now or 2012. Since the apps were sent out while I waited for the score, I'm going to take my chances this cycle and see; if nothing, I'll put it off for a year. Sigh.

20 schools is overkill, do you really want to practice in all those different places?

Maybe it is overkill. I thought the recommendation was to cast a wide net? I know that score is going to be a problem, so I cast a wide net. All these schools are in places I've been before and would not be turned off by, if I had to relocate.

I am really torn between sitting this cycle out or letting things go where they may.

I'd say you have a good chance at all these schools if you can convince them that you're generally interested in going there. You'll probably get a lot of waitlists because of that reason. I agree that it's overkill. Take some out and add in Cornell and one other M/V/P school (might have to pay full sticker tho if you're willing). I'd narrow it down to 10-15 and try your best to get your apps in within the next two weeks..

I applied to 21 schools, many with fee waivers, so I don't think 20 is overkill. Ask for fee waivers. If you have the $ and time and want to cast a wide net, do it. I saved the $ beforehand and as a semi-splitter, I wanted the chance to apply to some reaches/big reaches, apply to look for different offers of $, and apply to certain geographic areas.

Anyone else with suggestions? The waiting game will probably be long and painful. Anything to help ease that (or not) would be great.
