Veteran Status Boost?

I'm new to the forum so I hope this isn't a repeat question. Has there been an observed boost for veterans? Obviously it won't be as much as a URM boost, but I was wondering what opinions were out there. Personally, I have been a paralegal in the Army for 7 years. I have served in various locations across the U.S., Germany, and Iraq. Thanks for your insight.

Short answer: It's tough to say. Many schools seem to give a boost, but this isn't always the case. The thread explains more.

I am a former Marine who went through the app process in 2008. While I don't think you get a boost per se like you would for URM status, it definitely helps. One thing is for sure, though - you will get a MAJOR boost with most gov't internships. I applied to a bunch of fed and state internships for 1L summer, and was told that I was getting vet's preference for most of them. This isn't much different from non-law jobs, but b/c things are so competitive lately, it's especially nice to have this on our side!
Good luck to you.
