Goal: Start as a local prosecutor, eventually become a federal prosecutor.

Ideally, I'd stay in Chicago. Don't know if I should shoot for Northwestern or Chicago (super, super reach). I'd love to go to Loyola, Kent or DePaul.

What are my chances? Any advice?
How many times did you take the LSAT? (As in, is the 149 a diagnostic or a previous exam)

Wrote December 2009. The 153 is my June 2010 score.

Sorry, I don't really know much. I figured if you had only taken the LSAT once you might want to retake it to get your numbers higher for those reach schools. Since you've taken it twice you may not want to take it again... understandably. If you do decide to take it again you may want to look over how you studied for the exam and see if you could improve it.

I'm not Mexican-American but I do know that you will likely receive a boost for being an underrepresented minority.

Sorry I couldn't help. Good luck with everything!

My advice would be to take another 6months and put your all into studying to get your LSAT to around a 160. You would open up so many more doors than your current score would.

As Mexican American and who has experience of life in inner city Chicago, if you can pump your score to 160 (as suggested by above poster) and write a kick ass diversity statement about your contribution to life in the "hood", you can pretty much affirmative action your way into Chicago or Northwestern or both.

So, sign up for Testmasters, take October 2010 LSAT, and Good Luck.

Chicago doesn't like diversity statements.

Thanks everyone! I've been on the fence about retaking the LSAT because I want to get my apps in September/October 1st. But you're right, retaking can only help me at this point.

You should definitely retake the LSAT, that 153 won't get you very far. Are you a first generation immigrant/college grad? If so, coupled with an LSAT in the high 160s and kick ass PS and DS, you should be in at Northwestern.
Echale ganas y vas a ver que si se puede
