Top Law Schools

Hi Fellow TLSers. I am an AA Male and am going to be applying this fall with a 3.82/163 LSAT and will most likely ED to Columbia, but my main question is: I'm currently a junior pursuing an Econ degree at a Top 10 Public school and I'm in my spring quarter. I want to do the best I can this quarter(grade wise) so that I can hopefully bump my GPA up to a 3.84. I'm currently taking 18 units, but I doubt I can handle the workload for this quarter. Would it be best to drop an upperdiv econ class and stick with 14 units so I can hopefully achieve the 4.0 for the quarter? If I do this I will still have 4 upperdiv Econ classes that I still have to take during my senior year in order to graduate. Will this look bad when I'm applying or will the schools understand that I'm applying out of undergrad, which means that I still have upperdivs to take in order to fulfill all my requirements?

No worries kiddo. Law schools only care about the actual gpa, they don't care about how many more econ requirements you need to acquire to graduate! Good luck with Columbia next year!

Yeah, above poster is right. Do whatever you can to preserve that GPA.

The difference between a 3.82 and a 3.84 for an applicant is minimal, especially an AA applicant. Like the above posters said, just don't let the GPA drop.

I think you have a shot at major scholarship money in the T14. Chance at H with your stats. I wouldn't risk ED to Columbia possibly at sticker. When you could go there with money.

Just take the 14 units. As long as you're not obviously slacking, a higher GPA matters much, much more than having extra credits.

I also agree with hiromoto. You have chances at H and S with those numbers, and some money from Columbia. Don't ED; it will cut down your chances at scholarships and eliminate Harvard and Stanford.
