The reason you got dinged was because of a 3.3/163, not because of the large gap between hispanics and AA's.chicoalto0649 wrote:168+ w an awesome personal statement and (or) diversity statement
Sorry bro, Mex-American here with a 163 and exact same gpa and I was dinged at UVA,Michigan, Penn,Gtown and waitlisted at duke (soft reject). Didnt even bother to apply to the top 6. Hispanics just don't get the same bump as AA. I did apply in early January which may have been my problem, but i doubt it.
And don't have a target score unless it is a 180! Try to do as well as you possibly can and see what happens.
2 points made that big a difference?Solerpower wrote:The reason you got dinged was because of a 3.3/163, not because of the large gap between hispanics and AA's.chicoalto0649 wrote:168+ w an awesome personal statement and (or) diversity statement

A 165 will give you a good chance at Gtown and Cornell and an outsider's shot at MPVD (slightly less than 50%).
Better than 165 will get you in the T14.
+puerto rican's get a bigger boost than mexicans. (They are even less represented)chicoalto0649 wrote:2 points made that big a difference?Solerpower wrote:The reason you got dinged was because of a 3.3/163, not because of the large gap between hispanics and AA's.chicoalto0649 wrote:168+ w an awesome personal statement and (or) diversity statement

I think this is largely dependent upon region. In New York, for instance, I doubt that Puerto Ricans get a larger boost than Mexicans. There really doesn't seem to be a whole lot of science to this stuff.pinkzeppelin wrote:+puerto rican's get a bigger boost than mexicans. The simple answer to this is no, a 165 will not get you into Chicago, especially considering you got a 152 on your first try (it will be looked at negatively, regardless if the school averages or takes the highest).mdeleon4 wrote:i appreciate all the help. i took the LSAT in February and got a 152 and I know NYU and Columbia average the lsat scores so i feel like those have become unreachable. what do you all think about Chicago?
Do you think 165 could make Chicago doable? What about that score with applying early decision?
This is probably pretty accurate. Any past scores will probably be held against you to some extent (as ugly/unfair as that may be). I think you're gonna need to push it as close to 170 as possible to have T6 chances. HYSCCN might be tough nuts to crack in the mid-160s.Solerpower wrote:The simple answer to this is no, a 165 will not get you into Chicago, especially considering you got a 152 on your first try (it will be looked at negatively, regardless if the school averages or takes the highest).mdeleon4 wrote:i appreciate all the help. i took the LSAT in February and got a 152 and I know NYU and Columbia average the lsat scores so i feel like those have become unreachable. what do you all think about Chicago?

You need a 168+ for T10, a 165 will get you Cornell and Gtown, with an outsider's shot at Penn/UVA.
Shoot high bud!
HYS are impossible to crack with a 3.3 and any 160 score.Rand M. wrote:This is probably pretty accurate.
