My scores are doing the same things yours are. I've gotten much better with LR and LG, but PT54's RC just ate me alive

Glad to hear you are doing very well. PT54 was very hard especially the RC. I took it yesterday and scored 166. I went -6 RC thoughcrysmissmichelle wrote:My scores are doing the same things yours are. I've gotten much better with LR and LG, but PT54's RC just ate me alive
Good luck. Keep working. I used to be at 158-165. Now I'm consistently at 165-168Miranda 18 wrote:Got my highest score today! 166! I hope its not a fluke and I that I will just be moving on up till test day......

My score take a huge dive today on PT55. Hence, I am taking two days off to work on RC. If my score do not improve in RC, there is no way I can reach my goal.

I went from 143 (or 145, i don't remember) on my first diag to scoring in the 170s now. You have to get max -1 on every LG, and ideally -0. LG is the easiest section to improve on, IMO. Secondly, do exactly what you're doing - improve the RC.jr1886 wrote:My score take a huge dive today on PT55. Hence, I am taking two days off to work on RC. I got into the 170s 8 times (highest being a 175), and in all cases I missed 0 on LG and max. -3 on RC. LR is a weird animal, but judging from your LR stats, even If you get -0 on LG and -4 on RC, you can keep doing what you do on LR and you'll be in the low 170s.
Good luck. (after a 166 on PT 49, I have to brush up on my RC myself).

Today I decided to test my endurance while taking PT56. I made it 6 sections. I end up going -4 for each of the six sections(strange coincidence). I scored a 166.

Thanks. I will do my final working in increasing my speed in LG this week. You are absolutely right, It is important that we limit misses in LG in order to hit 170s.lennonist wrote:I went from 143 (or 145, i don't remember) on my first diag to scoring in the 170s now. Re: 148 in Dec. and aiming for 170 in Oct.--Score dive?
The bane of perfect scores on LG: messing up a rule! I hate it when that happens. Have you noticed a pattern among the rules you mess up on? I realized a few weeks ago that some times I forget that a rule has an 'exactly' or an 'at least,' so I started circling those words when I see them pop up (just as I circle 'EXCEPT' in LR/RC). This has really helped me avoid those errors.jr1886 wrote:Thanks AJtdq!! one thing I can definitely say, It's not easy to get a 170. Duh. Yesterday, my score went back down, I scored a 167. I missed one of the rules in the first game and end up missing 3 questions in what what supposed to be the easiest game to cost me a 170. I end up with a -4in LG. So, the lesson is any mistake can be costly in the quest for 170ajtdq wrote:Congrats!!! You've definitely earned it!!jr1886 wrote:I am so excited . I get my first 170 today in PT44. However, I need to keep working harder and keep things in perspective. To use a football analogy, while it is nice to win pre-season games, it means nothing in the grand scheme of things if in the regular season you fail to win when the games matter. In other words, I would prefer to be more like the Colts than the Lions.
Yesterday though I got a -2 LG, and on both questions I made the exact same mistake (asking for a complete and accurate list of what must be true, and I picked the option that was missing one of the must be trues because I was going too quickly) . That's not going to happen again!
I guess it's a good thing that we're drilling so much now so that we're really aware of the kinds of holes we might fall into (and knowing that, we'll avoid them on the actual test).
This is going to be my strategy!lennonist wrote:If you get -0 on LG and -4 on RC, you can keep doing what you do on LR and you'll be in the low 170s.

No doubt reading comprehension gets harder in the 50s. PT57 has two tough passages Cather and Fractal properties. If my instincts did not take over specially in Cather, I would have missed all the questions but end up missing just 2

Re: 148 in Dec. and aiming for 170 in Oct.--Score dive?
I haven't had a chance to post here since the test because I was banned shortly after it for discussing LSAT questions. Ok here's my reaction
RC: In the Last 10 PTs I took, none were as easy as this RC-this actually worries me because I think LSAC might have set up a lot of traps that ensnared me unknowingly. Nevertheless, I thought RC was a cake. It was not comparable to RC in PT57 and PT59 which had some of the hardest RC passages. My reaction to RC may not be representative however, in my test center everyone I talked to(about 7people) were complaining about how hard RC was. One guy even told me he was reading the second passage when the 5mn warning was announced. At most I should miss -3.
LR: There was nothing that would let me to believe that LR was anything extraordinary. It was a pretty normal section and comparable to previous LR in PT50s. However, there were a few questions that were very hard such as hiring, highway speed, and rule of law. Having said that, I can't predict how I will do in that section. I didn't feel my brain was working efficiently-lack of sleep. Furthermore even during my preparation for the test, I was never able to accurately predict how I did. One thing I know for sure, It should be a significant improvement from my first actual LSAT.
LG: The hardest game,Artifacts, according to most people was, ironically, the easiest one for me. Considering the fact I am suck at games, maybe I completely messed up. But i felt it was very easy and an exact template of a game I have done before in the 50s. Nonetheless, I was unable to finish even the 3rd game let alone reading the last one. When I get home, I was able to figure out in my mind that I miss a crucial inference in the 3rd game which would have serve me well. So, I will probably miss at least 8 questions in LG alone.
Conclusion: I don't know where my score will end up. I know it is likely it will be below 170 considering the fact the curve will be a very tight one( around -9 to-11). Since I haven't score in the 150's in awhile, I would think my score will be at 160s considering my strong performance in RC.
I'm thinking strongly about retaking and my decision will be made easier if I score below 165.
I hope everyone who took the test did extremely well. And please post your reactions!
If I decide to retake, my top priority will be to find a way to sleep for 8hrs soundly. This is really critical and a feet I haven't been able to accomplish.

I didn't sleep soundly either but I felt super positive leaving the test even though I felt the crunch of time in all but one section. The LGs weren't that hard, but I am super slow on them so I hope luck breaks my way for the last game. I am not retaking if I score a 165 or higher. In the back of my mind I think I might have broken a 170, but I took no pts going into the test. I don't know what to do with myself for the next 3 weeks.

A 170 doesn't take just studying... it takes a good amount of natural ability. Most people can't study themselves to a 170... at least not from a 148 starting point. It's possible... just be realistic and don't be afraid to shoot for the 160 range. I would have a different approach if you were in the 155-158... and even than I would be skeptical.
So study hard, dedicate your life to it, SHOOT for a 170...
but don't be bummed with a 160. Its a HUGE improvement on a 148, no matter what the circumstance.. wtfDrake014 wrote:You have admirable testicles my good man.
I agree, there is nothing like a determined mind. Unfortunately, you do not possess one. Thats why you made this thread after all- you are trying to get people to reassure you that you can do it-
