If my family receives benefits from the government, do I qualify as URM? I am not a full blooded Native American, but am at least 1/4. I am really lost as to how all this stuff works, but I am wondering if receiving benefits translates into being able to put this on my application.

i believe that you have to be a member of a tribe and it also to say NA on your birth cert. in order to qualify as URM

At the very least you should write a diversity statement about your experience being NA, including recieveing government benefits. I would check off the NA box, and maybe contact the individual schools to discuss the best way to mark your ethnicity. I would bet money they say to just check the NA box.
