Hey all,

I want to practice in Orange or Los Angeles County. Here are my options. I believe if I invest more time on the LSAT I could get into USC/UCLA range, but not positive.

Any thoughts are welcome.

This all really depends on your career goals. All three of those schools will enable you to practice in Southern California. USD is, in my opinion, out, even with the scholarship. They are a respectable mid-level T2, but a 3/4ths ride still has you paying about $10,000 a year in tuition. Adding in other expenses, you're looking at a total COA of roughly $30,000/yr for USD vs. about $10-20K/yr more for the total COA at one of the UCs.

Your best bet is definitely Davis or Hastings. As to how to pick between the two, just pick the one you like. Davis is ranked slightly higher, but really they're about identical in quality.

USD is always tempting... but I worry about their placement.

I would choose Davis, in light of the funding issues that Hastings has run into. I know next to nothing about CA schools though...

Plus the COL should definitely be taken into consideration! You'll save quite a bit living in Davis compared to living in SF.
