It is on a bluff on the west end overlooking Marina Del Rey and Venice Beach. From my on campus apartment I had a view of the ocean all the way to the Hollywood sign and downtown. The campus itself is really beautiful even though it lacks a single architectural style. For some reason they gave that up the one they used for the chapel and first two main buildings they built. It's now a grab bag of whatever the hell was in when each building was built. That said it's still way more aesthetically pleasing than Loyola Law which is downtown.

Looking up at LMU on the bluff. (l-r Sacred Heart Chapel, Xavier Hall, Jesuit Residence and, and on campus housing.)
Now I see. It's the old, "sweet-classical-styled-undergrad/law-school-is-a-middle-school-shithole-so-ugly-we-hid-it-in-another-zip-code-like-your-crazy-uncle bait and switch." Quite sad that so many colleges decided to tack on token law schools during the worst period in all of architectural history.

LOL hilarious. Though not entirely accurate. Loyola Law has been around for a while. Sometime in the 80's they thought it would be a good idea to get a not yet famous Frank Gehry to redesign the law school. As you can see he lacked talent even way back then.

Though not law school related, earlier in the convo people were showing libraries so thought I'd share how insane this library is:

Oregon is definitely very sweet. You get free tickets all Ducks games, and the campus and its rec center have Nike written all over it. Eugene is a very welcoming city

I started a threat called "whirlwind law school tour" about my recent adventures around the country looking at law schools. Like an idiot, I left my camera at home, so I only have cell phone pics, which aren't worth posting. But, if you trust my judgment at all, I'd be happy to discuss or compare any of the following campuses (inside and out). Some of my findings were surprising (like, Loyola LA's disappointing campus--but the students there were disproportionately good looking!)

FWIW, my undergrad was in a small New England town, had a beautiful campus and huge endowment, so I am a bit spoiled. Also, I've lived in Chicago and NYC, so I can tell you about locations of law schools in those cities and can definitely tell you if there is any semblance of active/interesting street life near any of these campuses:

New York:
NYU (self tour, hung out with friends from the law school)
NYLS (tour)
Cardozo (tour)
St. Johns (tour with dean of admissions)
Brooklyn Law School (long tour and 1 on 1 info session w/ a student, "contracts" class visit)

Chicago
U of Chicago (tour, info session, "Torts" class visit)
Northwestern (tour, friends at the law school, "Intl. Law/Human Rights" class visit)
Loyola Chicago (sort of.. went to a lecture in their auditorium)
Chicago Kent (Open house-- tour, mock class visits: Crim, school law, legal writing)
DePaul (nothing official, but know the campus/area and current law students)

Southern California
UCLA ("Civ Pro" class visit, tour)
USC (unofficial self-tour)
Loyola L.A. (tour and chatted with admin)
Southwestern (L.A.) (tour, chatted with students involved in public interest activities)

Northern California/ Bay Area
U of the Pacific (unofficial self-tour)
UC Davis (unofficial self-tour with friends who went to Davis UG)
Berkeley (3L class visit, unofficial self-tour)
Stanford (unofficial self tour)
U San Francisco (self-tour)
Golden Gate U (1-1 tour with admin, talked to current students)
UC Hastings (self-tour, talked with admissions, talked to students and members of APALSA)

My faves are Boalt and UCLA (of course?), but realistically, USF had a beautiful campus and its students seemed happy and active. Very strong social justice vibe there. I could go on and on, so let me know if you're interested in learning more.

Holy Crap! That is an impressive tour. I wonder if that is some kind of record? Seriously, you've got to be one of the most well informed applicants out there. Thanks for the information and good luck in your decision making process.

Ballerest library ever. If I even become fabulously wealthy, I want my study to be just like this.

Sometimes I think it's sad that Lexis and Westlaw are supplanting the need for a real law library. Then I think about how much of a pain it would be to do that kind of research in a book, and all is well with the world again.

Yeah, sort of a freak  But, hey, it was probably the only chance I'll get to experience a Boalt or UCLA class. It was also a good excuse to get some sun and see friends

This is like library porn.

Its the Trinity College Library in Dublin. Its the last stop on the tour after you see the Book of Kells. Its very nice but I wouldn't actually want to study there since they are always bringing tour groups through.

I think students at Cornell study so much because it's a good reason to spend time in the glorious library.

Does anyone want pictures of Pitt? I'll be there on Friday, so I'd be happy to take pics after the information session...

Yes please. That would be greatly appreciated and you will be placed in the applicant pool to be considered an honorary member of TLS.

Football stadium and basketball arena?

Maybe the law school and law library if you have time!

I'll try to get the bball arena, but Heinz field is nowhere near the school (did I sense some sarcasm here?)

Sure. Well, you probably know that Northwestern Law is downtown with the business school and not part of the evanston campus. For that reason, U Chicago has a much more impressive and collegiate campus since it's tied to the rest of the university. Both have great facilities, but U Chicago's classrooms and library are more interesting and modern elegant. Some of Northwestern's classrooms are very old: Image and the campus is very small, however it does sit on lake shore drive and therefore has a great view. The library looks out over the lake. The school is in the gold coast, so it's sort of ideal, but it's quite a hike from the train.

IMO, U Chicago has a more impressive campus, larger facilities, and an powerful mystique. The potential downside is its location in Hyde Park on the south side, pretty far from downtown, but were I given a choice between the two based on campus alone, (and I won't be, unfortunately), I'd go with Chicago, probably because I'm a north sider and it would be a nice change. Hyde park is also a unique and cute neighborhood with awesome houses. If I were new to Chicago, though, I'd probably choose Northwestern for its convenient location.
