I would venture that when people hate on ND's football team, it's because they're pretty awful, not really because of the whole Catholocism thing. But hey, I could be wrong.

My hatred stems mostly from Charlie Weis. Unless he upsets USC and gives birth to the second coming of Jesus on the 50 yard line, it looks like that won't be a factor next year.

BC is known to place better in New England

BU is known to place better in NY, CA, etc

I suppose this means that at the top end BU can open more national doors. Of course, BC may offer more regional doors to those on the lower end. Not sure if one is better than the other for these reasons.

Actually, BC is in Newton, not in Boston. Both alumni networks are strong, but BC might edge out BU in this area. The schools both offer comparable employment opportunities in Boston/New England.

OP: if you have an idea of what type of law you want to go into, do some research about both schools. You really have to just visit both schools to see which one you prefer... BC is a prettier law school in a campus environment just outside of Boston; BU is one nasty looking building on the Charles river, but it is smack in the middle of Boston, which is a plus if you want to live in the city.
That's right, BC's law campus is not on the main campus in Chestnut Hill but in Newton. There's a bus that runs between 6:30 and 2 am (if my memory serves me correctly) between the campuses and the BC T-stop. Otherwise it's about a 10-15 minute walk, which isn't bad but not fun in the winter. About 1/4 of BC's undergrad freshman live on the Newton Law campus (as I did when I attended undergrad there) so be prepared to be surrounded by 18-19 year olds often, especially during lunch and late night as the freshman cafeteria is in the main law building. All that aside, BC is a terrific school and though I wouldn't go to the law school for personal reasons (namely I don't want to move back to Boston), if you want to stay in Boston and/or if you are interested in human rights issues, social justice, and the like BC would be the right choice over BU. BC's Jesuit Catholic values are not overbearing but certainly are noticeable if you know where to look (i.e., if you think corporate america does no wrong BC is not the place for you).

BU's also a great school and though the law building is awful (though prettier and more up to date inside), it's downtown location is considerably better than BC's suburban setting, assuming you prefer city night life to Mary Ann's and Columbus Circle. On the professional front I've heard that BU has better placement in big law, though by how much I'm not sure.

But I have to find my husband somewhere, or else the sitting won't be an option :(
It would only be for a summer or two...

According to ABA data, the number of graduates are BC 255, BU 293.

Normalized by class size: 168% BU, 121% BC
So BU places about 39% more per-capita into the Vault top 40.

Objectively speaking, BU is the better choice by most measures, but it is very close. They are somewhat interchangeable.

In terms of campus, there is a significant difference. BC is much nicer inside and out (more spacious) in my opinion. It is a pain in the ass to get to via public transportation though. I really don't think people understand how much of a pain in the ass it is depending on where you live or go to at night. It is a 10-15 minute bus ride after going all the way to the end of one of the longest subway lines in the city (which splits 4(ish) times along the way.) BU is much more central. BU will not help you in terms of parking at all, but BC will offer you a reasonably-priced spot.

Just a small factor I guess... Props to the kid who said BU is just middle of the road compared to BC. I cannot imagine how much research produced that conclusion.

BC has the slight edge in NE/Mid Atlantic. The numbers thrown out by ls10 are important, but realize that BU cut its enrollment significantly within the last 5 or so years. BU seems to have more national mobility, but iin this economy that means scheisse...you're not getting to CA unless you're top 5% at either. BC has a distinct edge in Boston....ask the partners of any major firm there (especially hiring partners...theyre important to talk to). Check the NLJ data as well as Ciolli data....BC seems to be the better choice for the Northeast. Both are good...goodluck.
