Vanderbilt (total COA 120k) v. UGA (total COA 11k)

Post by Mathematician178 » Mon Mar 22, 2021 5:57 pm

Hey everybody,

I am incredibly torn. I am looking to do work in Atlanta (preferably Env. Law) and can be flexible on jobs. Ultimately, I would like to move to small town in GA and fade into obscurity (lol). Also, not incredibly fond of Big Law but open to it for a short period. I have no debt from undergrad and would love some advice from you all.

I think UGA is the easy winner here. Given that you sound lukewarm on doing Biglaw, keeping your debt low is even more important. Plus, you want to break into Atlanta, which is definitely doable from UGA.

UGA is the right pick here- it is a great school and dominates the state. Yeah, Vandy is great and all- but it ain't worth 110k more than UGA. If you were biglaw or bust I'd take vandy, but your goals are obtainable from UGA and I bet there are more connections with env stuff in atlanta from UGA than vandy.
