Quality of Life Rankings for T14 schools . . and why

What schools offer the best quality of life? I have heard positive things said of UVA and NYU . . Are these reputations deserved? Of course, quality of life means different things for different people . . I am thinking of intangibles like "happy" students, close-knit community, "campus" feeling, etc. Please also comment re. schools that may in fact not have these attributes.

This is going to be a stupid and pointless thread.

UChi has a close-knit student body and a campus feel. Only some people would enjoy those, though! Depends on a lot.

I expect that this thread will soon be full of helpful responses from posters who attended several T14s at the same time.

If you're finding any enjoyment in life during your 1L year then you're doing it wrong.

I, for one, welcome the deluge 0Ls (-1Ls) who will speculate about the relative value one should place on softball tournament participation vs. bar review attendance vs. local community dining-option diversity.

The only questions that will remain after this upcoming 10-page debate/digestion will be "Why doesn't USNWR include these data in their ranking?"

Because Princeton Review already does?

Perhaps this would be better targeted at graduates by asking "Did you genuinely enjoy your time at law school?"

As a UVA grad, I certainly did and believe the majority of my classmates did also. As for other schools, I have no idea.

Depends what you want, for the cities/areas:

Big city living? Chicago, NU, CLS, NYU / GULC, Harvard, Upenn ( Last three are kinda big city but not really)

California dude? Berkley and Stanford

Place you can actually afford to live? Michigan, Duke, UVA

Freezing hell that has some outdoor stuff and smelly hippies? Cornell

Nothing redeemable about the area? Yale

Stupid and pointless threads are always the most fun.

to add onto this idea, ATL has a 'social life' grade from both current students and alums. I wouldn't put any weight in these things, but OP might enjoy them!

there is a time and place, i think, for quality of life concerns. if you're at a full ride between Columbia, Chicago, and Stanford, i think it's fair to look at the margins of the school (QOL, how the campus feels, what you think of the student body). the problem i have with this thread is it overstates the emphasis of quality of life when making a temporary career decision. doesn't matter how happy you are at university of miami for 3 years if you can't find a job for the rest of your life.
