WashU or Wait a Year (Or T14 Waitlist)

First time poster, deeply lost in this process right now and looking for some guidance. (I've been out of school for a few years so I've been stumbling along through this process like a clown)

Starting to wonder whether I should wait a year because this time around (due to ignorance mostly) I didn't put any applications in until early Feb, which I now realize was a huge error on my part.

My stats are LSAT 171, GPA 3.3 (wrote an addendum about death of parent to justify disparity). Planning on trying for Big Law east-coast if possible as the long term plan.

Got waitlisted at Duke, UVA, Michigan and Georgetown (still haven't heard anything from Penn).

Best offer on the table is 48k scholarship per year at WashU, which means I'm looking at 5k for tuition and then other expenses. Fairly cheap all things considered.

But frankly, I felt like with my stats I can do a little better and I'm feeling like waiting until Feb really shot me in the foot for T14 schools.

Any input about whether waiting a year is worth it or whether transferring is a good idea would be super helpful.

Wait a year and apply early next cycle. Your options will be significantly improved.

Waiting until Feb. to apply was a mistake. Sit out this cycle and reapply this August/September as soon as the apps open up. You will have better results. Don't waste that 171. 171/3.3 can get you a T13 with some (small) scholarship.

Apply in Sept. next cycle and I bet you will get 2-3 t13 and at least one with decent money. You will love your life a lot more than now.

What will your debt at graduation be if you go to WUSTL?

It might be better than a (small) scholarship at a lower T13.
