Using Ruby to negotiate Hamilton

I promise that this is a real question, as I'm sure some are going to say I'm trolling.
I received both the Ruby and the Hamilton, but for personal areas would prefer to stay in the NYC area. However, the Ruby offers $15K over what the Hamilton does - so would anyone happen to have any experience of if it is possible to ask Columbia to match the Ruby in terms of giving the $15k stipend? Just wanted to see if anyone had been able to do it and/or how?
Thanks for any replies - I really appreciate all of the feedback that this site has provided me so far
(I know there have been some threads about something similar in the past, but I couldn't really find any with this exact point, but if you know of a thread that's discussed this, please let me know! Wouldn't want to discuss something that's already been discussed)

According to their 509, no one at Columbia receives more than full tuition. So no. But as debt-averse as I am, there's no downside to choosing Columbia here if you want to stay in NYC.

lol true - I'm not complaining! Couldn't be happier with the outcome of my cycle, but just wanted to see if I could transfer the benefits of one scholarship into another school given they're the same ranking, etc.

CLS doesn't give more than full tuition. Also, they may be identically ranked, but their difference in yield is significant. Last year, CLS admitted 1224 and enrolled 391 (32%) while Chicago admitted 906 and enrolled 185 (20%). Most students wouldn't choose Chicago over CLS at equal cost.

Didn't you get a Dillard months ago? You're doing fine.

And didn't you withdraw your apps months ago?

Not sure where you got that info - I didn't withdraw the apps for Columbia / Chicago for sure...
And got it
goldenbear
why do you think that the yield is that much lower?

Wasn't referring to you - sorry!
Congratulations on your outcomes.

I could share once the cycle is over - but I'd rather keep that confidential until then. Sorry - just don't want to screw myself over.

Smart move. I'm not sure why that poster needs to make this about their ego. If you want to protect a semblance of anonymity, it's probably better to not disclose.
I doubt Columbia will match but you can ask. I would stay in NYC where you want to live and have a support system instead of going to Chicago.

My favorite TLS moment was when taxman tried to negotiate a full ride with Fordham by using his Dillard. It gave me a nice chuckle. Glad to hear you got these options for NYC instead taxman.

take the Hamilton if you want CLS/New York, Ruby if you want Chicago. Your debt will be low enough either way. congratulations on having the best law school outcome ever, twice.

What if you didn't get the Hamilton? Can you use the Ruby to negotiate with Columbia for more merit aid?
