Top Law Schools

164/3.74. 9 years of work experience with variety of nonprofit organizations. Not 100% sure what type of law I want to practice but I'm interested in criminal justice/policy/reform and civil rights/social justice. Interned with the Public Defender Service in DC and could see myself doing that type of work. Would really love to work with ACLU or similar org but know that's a huge long shot.

North Carolina resident.

School needs to be in a medium/large city for job prospects for the SO. Also I want to be able to get a job in the city that the school is in when I graduate so we don't have to move again.

Pretty debt averse. Don't want to have huge loans so I'm looking at schools that either have good LRAP programs or schools that I could get a decent scholarship to.

Applying to UNC.

Applying to Georgetown but it's a big reach....should I consider other DC schools?

Should I consider NYC schools other than NYU and Columbia?

Where else would be a good fit? We'd consider moving anywhere in the US if it made sense.

Northeastern? They have a strong reputation for public interest and you could get a sizable scholarship there, I believe.

If not, that LSAT keeps you out of NYU and Columbia.

No. I meant should I consider schools in NYC that aren't those two, like Fordham or CUNY

Thanks for the feedback. I actually went to Northeastern for my first two years of undergrad before transferring. Would prefer not to go back.

I've taken the LSAT twice. Studied hard for it the second time around, was scoring 168-172 in practice tests, and pretty much choked on the test. I've considered waiting a year and retaking again, but I'm already 30 and not sure if I want to wait 1 more year. NYU was my dream school.

What about Cardozo?

What about Cardozo?

If you're going to go to a non Columbia/NYU school for PI I would choose CUNY over Cardozo. They have similar employment numbers (only a bit below Cardozo) and cheap (14k) tuition. and from what I understand, they are a primary feeder school for NYC low-level PI (not anything fancy like NGOs and stuff) You should get a full scholarship from them with your numbers, and I would haggle for a living stipend too.
