Duke ($$) vs Vandy ($$$)

My options are roughly:
Duke: COA 110k
Vandy: COA 70k
That COA is financed with loans. From the South and wouldn't mind staying somewhere and working in a major city (Atlanta, Nash, Charlotte), but I'm not DC or Cali averse.
My GPA is the limiting factor with my numbers, so a retake and reapply won't get me too much.
Basically, is Duke worth 40k more than Vandy given this info?

What type of work do you want to be in?
If the answer is biglaw, then Duke. If it's just any type of law in the South, then I think Vandy would be fine for you.

Yeah, good catch. Should've clarified that I'm not big law averse either. I expect to put in my big law time, anyway, to get a hold of the debt.

Duke is worth 40k more if that's your goal.

Vandy 3L here.
If your numbers are right, I'd say Duke is worth the extra $$. The 28% advantage in biglaw and fed clerk placement is well worth it.
