Pay the deposit to keep waiting?
Options so far:
Cornell at sticker
Emory w 85%
Alabama with full ride
166/4.0
Waitlist at UVA and Georgetown; waiting to hear from Vandy, NYU, Northwestern, and Duke.
I'm thinking pay the deposit at Emory (1st deadline is April 15) and keep waiting it out to hear. Sucks to throw out a few hundred dollars though. What do you guys think?

Did you apply late? Your numbers seem a little better than these options

Yes, I submitted all my apps between 1/31 and mid Feb. I'm 3 years out of undergrad and working in a decent job. decided only last fall to commit to attending. Took the Dec LSAT.

You can sit out and apply early next cycle for (1) better opportunities with both (a) school choice and (b) scholarship offerings, (2) an additional year of work experience to boost the resume and the savings associated with it, (3) an opportunity to take the LSAT at least one additional time*. The downside of retaking is nonexistent and the upside of even a single additional point is hitting Cornell's magic 167 LSAT median.
The short and sweet of it is, you have much better options than sticker at Cornell. Emory or Vandy with a huge scholarship is fine, but I wouldn't go that route with your GPA.
--
*, and (4) a potentially less competitive cycle. Remember that for the schools you are looking at 167 is an important number and this year the number of test takers who scored 167 or higher is significantly higher than last year. This, imo, has several effects. Many schools can afford to be more selective with which candidates they offer either admission or scholarships too this year.

Even if you don't retake, are you willing to bank your future career on a lesser school, because you didn't file some paperwork?Danimals18 wrote:retake, submit your apps much sooner. you'll have better outcomesryan864 wrote:Yes, I submitted all my apps between 1/31 and mid Feb. edit: not to be misunderstood, wait until the beginning of next cycle and just re-submit.
Edit2: i saw you have a 4.0, if you go to a school below the t-10 because you don't retake you're an idiot.

Thanks everybody. I'm thinking I'm gonna give it a go in June. I got 162 on my first diagnostic last fall and 166 on the real thing. Hopefully 2 months of studying can get me over the 170 hump.
