Top Law Schools

I've thought over where to apply some, signed up for the June LSAT and now have a GPA at my college (I'm a transfer Junior). Plus I spoke with my college's pre-law adviser. I have a 4.0 at my college now and my old GPA is 3.85. I used one of the LSAC GPA calculators and if I can keep up the 4.0, my LSAC GPA should be around 3.925.

I want to practice law in Rhode Island since that's where I'm from and that's where I think of as home. I would take a job in Mass or Connecticut if there's a significant financial incentive though. As for what I want to practice, I'm leaning towards criminal defense or tax law or real property (going to do some internships obviously).

So I'm thinking Yale, Harvard, BU, BC and Roger Williams. Yale is my first choice by and far. Harvard, is, well, Harvard. John Adams went there. BU/BC are pretty reputable in Mass and RI. Roger Williams is the only law school in RI and I just want to apply there for a guaranteed option.

What do you all think?

This list is all over the place. That said, you can't really put together a list until you have an LSAT score.
Study for the LSAT like it's your job. If you get a 170+, blanket the T14 and go to HYS or take the best scholarship offer.
If you get less than a 170, retake.
With that GPA, you shouldn't be thinking about BU or BC, let alone Roger Williams.

Never put Yale and and ROGER WILLIAMS in the same sentence. One is the best law school in the World, the other is an annoying spam mail feeder.

You need an lsat before any of this is worth reading. In the mean time, where do you plan on working, and how much do you intend to earn? I can't help but wonder if HYS would be wasted on a career in Rhode Island, should you pull a miracle lsat score.

If you are thinking Yale, Harvard, BC/BU, then Roger Williams should not be your "Guaranteed option"....

Don't they teach you guys colonial history where you're from? Roger Williams founded Providence, Rhode Island in 1636 based on the principle of freedom of conscience for all people, be they Christian, Jew, Muslim or Native American. He also was the main force behind the cause for an independent (from Mass and CT) Rhode Island.

Oh, you meant the law school? It's a bunch of buildings near the Mount Hope Bridge that anyone outside of southern New England shouldn't have heard about.

I plan on working in RI. I'm not so picky about the city since you can get anywhere in Rhode Island in less than an hour. I'd like to get $80,000+. I am interested in going into politics however so I really want to make connections. The current governor of RI went to YLS. I may consider a job in Boston if the pay is substantially better. But honestly Yale is my goal and it keeps my mind focused on keeping up a 4.0 and working on LSAT prep.

You are about six steps ahead of yourself. You need an LSAT score first. Shoot for a 170+. Do not focus on money or where you think you will be in 15 years until you have that score.
