If I were in your shoes, I'd throw apps to HYSCCN. It sounds like you're content with UVA as an option and a Dillard is just about the best bargaining chip you're going to get below the T6.

Even if you can't afford HYS at all, CCN half or full scholarships are better than UVA full-ride, in my view.

You could easily just stop, but I don't any harm in throwing out some other applications. A lot depends on your goals. No question the Dillard is a great outcome though.

If you're getting a Dillard (and congrats btw!), you probably have a shot at at least a decent partial scholarship at other schools. The motivation to write the Why X essays and such can be hard to come by (I wouldn't bother for Michigan and Duke, but if you have any interest in Penn I'd do theirs), but it's extremely early in the cycle, so you'd be well served to push through and do a little more work now in order to give yourself other options, which might exceed your expectations.

I'm a 2L at UVA but I think everyone here has it right--objectively something like the Ruby at Chicago is a better outcome, and depending on what your goals are YHS could be something you may want to consider. Or at least give yourself that option. There is a hell of a long way to go until you have to start law school...give yourself the most options you can and then make the decision. Oh and congrats on the Dillard!

CCN is not worth $100k+ more than UVA.

Yeah, I definitely agree with this. That's why I kind of want to take the money and run preemptively. I don't see CCN offering me anywhere near enough money to make a Dillard look bad.
I mean, I think it's pretty likely that the Dillard will be your best option, but it never hurts to have more options on the table.
What are your goals?

I'm really hoping for a clerkship after LS because I am interested in pursuing appellate lit as my career. That's what makes UVA a really good outcome IMO, since their FC numbers are great (on par with Chi and H). But I definitely agree that it doesn't hurt to throw out some other apps since the cycle is young.
For biglaw, you can't go wrong with UVA so long as you are not aiming for firms like Williams and Connolly or Munger. This is all assuming you will be at least around median at UVA, which may not be a proper assumption to make since you need to prepare for the worst too.
For fed clerkship, I really do not understand why did not apply to HYS and Chicago. Your chances for fed clerkship are definitely higher at thos schools and I am sure with your stats you can get substantial money from Chicago. HYS all provide need-based aid as well.
