Long time lurker first time poster.
5 WE in politics want to go into big law
Am I better off going to Catholic with little debt or taking on a ton at GW (sticker)?

With this small amount of information, the correct answer is neither. You should have better options on the table, or at least 15k from GWU. Pull a Jerry MaGuire on the scholarship committee.

GW's biglaw placement as listed on LST is 28%. Are you comfortable taking out 200K+ in loans for a 28% chance of achieving your career goal?
On the other hand, you would graduate with marginal debt from Catholic, but Catholic places
6% of its class into biglaw. Are you comfortable spending three years of your life and the earning potential of each year for a 6% shot of achieving your career goal?
Retake for 170+, get some additional work experience and capital, and become competitive for admission to NU which is the most splitter friendly of the T14

Wow thanks for the fast responses!
I don't know if I can do much better than 167. I Pted in the low 170s but have taken the test 3 times and maxed at 167 the third time (canceled the second).

Chances are not good at big law from either school. Catholic with $$$$ is less risky but please don't attend there unless you are happy to get some type of non-big law job.

Don't take out a 200k loan for a 20%+ shot at a job that will take you years to pay off the loan. That's ridiculous. Retake and reapply.

I appreciate it but I think if I work hard I'll end up in that 28%. I was not the best college student because I was too busy smoking and drinking. This will be a little different.

Did you apply to any other law schools ? George Mason ?
Paying sticker at GWU isn't much of an option, in my opinion.

Just keep in mind that nearly 100% of the class will be going in with the exact same mentality. Only 28% of them will be in that 28%. Whatever your reasons for having that undergrad GPA were, just keep in mind that nearly the entire class did better.
