temple full scholly vs the field

Hi!

I am currently deciding on attending Temple vs some other options. Temple offered me full-tuition which is great, but my goal is not Philly Biglaw which from what I read can be worrisome. While I know it is not recommended to be thinking this early about transferring, but I will admit that I am keeping the option open in the back of my mind (a friend of mine made the temple to penn local jump after making top 5%). Nonetheless, here are some other options I am considering:

Fordham - 10k
Wake Forest - 32k
BC - 20k
Emory: WL
GMU - 25k

(163/3.6)

Let me know any advice you may have. Thanks

In order to receive the best feedback in this forum, please provide as much of the following information in your original post as possible:

-The schools you are considering
-The total Cost of Attendance (COA) of each. COA = cost of tuition + fees + books + cost of living (COL) + accumulated interest - scholarships. Here is a helpful calculator.
-How you will be financing your COA, i.e. loans, family, or savings
-Where you are from and where you want to work, and other places where you have significant ties (if any)
-Your general career goals
-Your LSAT/GPA numbers
-How many times you have taken the LSAT

I think OP does NOT want Philly Biglaw. What OP does want, we don't know.

Yeah, i apologize for not being clearer. I don't want Philly biglaw and would prefer biglaw in other markets (NYC, DC, Boston). The scholarship is just hard to pass up.

Unless your goals are philly PI, I think the answer here is going to be retake.

Full scholarship is very appealing
The problem with temple is that philly big law is very tough to get (even for people at top of class at temple or median at penn)
Big law from temple will require you to be at least top 10%.
Given your goals, temple is the best up option on the table but it will be very hard to succeed (don't do well and you won't get big law; get top 10% and the best plan is transfer to penn, which will add 120k to your debt).
Why not retake the LSAT?

Yeah sorry, I don't think any of those schools afford you to be picky between Philly BL vs NYC/DC/Boston BL. Frankly, not even HYS really does.

If you want big law you have to retake and attend the T14. That's what it's there for. All these schools are poor options with a goal of big law.

Thanks for the responses. I've taken the LSAT twice and got the same score, albeit it was lower than my PTs. But I would prefer not to take a year off to retake for a 3rd. As I mentioned, I know this is extremely ill-advised to be considering, but what are your thoughts on transferring possibilities to GULC or another t-14 school. I know it's impossible to guarantee that I'll be in top 10% or so, but I'm just theorizing here

Transferring into GULC wouldn't exactly be a coup, and it wouldn't make you big law secure either. You'll pay a ton more money than necessary and still have iffy chances at your goal.

Retake/reapply is the way to go if you want big law.

Agreed. Temple has no shortage of people gunning for top 10%. It ain't easy.
