I would go USC given your preference to stay in CA. I'm sure getting back to CA is possible from Michigan with ties, but I don't see the point of paying an extra 35k for Michigan when 1) USC is cheaper and 2) you want to stay in CA.

Michigan bodes well for your career goals a lot more than U$C. Just go to Michigan, it's a T14. Plenty of Michigan grads in California biglaw.

I don't know how easy it is to get California biglaw. OP, I think an important question is, if California biglaw doesn't happen, how do you feel about biglaw in some other market (like NYC) versus working for a smaller firm in California.

This is a good question. I honestly think it's too much for USC. That's still a little more than I would pay for Michigan, but I think it's more defensible.

His parents are paying - so Michigan. The correct answer is retake if you can get a waiver and can get any higher.

OP, your answer to this question should answer your question about which school you want.

Michigan since your COA will be funded by your parents (presumably interest free) & $35,000 is reasonable for a T-14 law school versus USC.
