It is generally a poor choice to go to any school for full price or close to it. Keep retaking the LSAT until you score 170+ and can attend a T14 at a significant discount.hbartlett wrote:After looking through this forum, it seems that many posters have a "T-14 or bust" mentality, which I can definitely understand given the unparalleled employment statistics that these schools offer (according to Law School Transparency.) At the same time, however, it looks like other schools in major metropolitan areas and with recognizable names (Boston College, Boston University, George Washington, Notre Dame, Emory) have at least solid job placement stats, but their median GPA and LSATs are much lower. I took the June 2015 LSAT (my first LSAT) and haven't received my score yet, but I'm fairly sure it will be between 160 and 165. My GPA is 3.67. I'm a caucasian female. My question is, would it be a poor choice to go to one of these schools at full price or close to it? Thank you in advance for your help.
There are no worse choices that you could make.My question is, would it be a poor choice to go to one of these schools at full price or close to it? Thank you in advance for your help.
Agreed. And just to build on this, schools like cornell and georgetown were readily taking 3.6/167-8 applicants this cycle. Frankly that's a pretty low bar for such good law schools(buyer's market if you will). There's no excuse to keep your 163 or whatever when these schools are within a retake's reach.CanadianWolf wrote:Do not pay full price or anywhere close to sticker price for Emory, GWU, BU, BC or Notre Dame because the debt burden far outweighs the likelihood of getting a job with sufficient income to pay back the loans.
An LSAT score in the 170s will certainly generate several T-14 acceptances, some with substantial scholarship offers, as well as many full tuition scholarship offers from non-Top 14 law schools. The minimum LSAT score needed for strong options is probably a 168 in your case. Also, there is no penalty nor harm in retaking the LSAT.
Well yeah me neither, but op is talking about going to emory or gw at sticker. Baby steps.ndirish2010 wrote:I wouldn't go to GULC or Cornell sticker either though.
Ha, good point. I went to ND on a half ride and that seemed like a great deal at the time, but I tell 0Ls not to do the same thing all the time.Clemenceau wrote:Well yeah me neither, but op is talking about going to emory or gw at sticker. I went to WUSTL with even less and got biglaw and would never tell anyone to do the same either.ndirish2010 wrote:Ha, good point. I wouldn't even go to HYS at sticker UNLESS I'm solely interested in something that's covered by the LRAP. Fuck I look like paying $300k for biglaw?ndirish2010 wrote:I wouldn't go to GULC or Cornell sticker either though.
Had a good outcome too. It sometimes confuses people when I argue against it.scottidsntknow wrote:I went to WUSTL with even less and got biglaw and would never tell anyone to do the same either.ndirish2010 wrote:Ha, good point. Yup. A 170 will get you half off many T14s.Mack.Hambleton wrote:Retake, a 3.67 doesn't preclude you from big money at T14
