COA:
  • WUSTL $50k
    Vanderbilt $110k
    Northwestern $150k
    Cornell $150k
    Michigan $155k
How you will be financing your COA:
Loans

Ties/Location
From the Midwest but have ties to the DC area. Would like to end up in a big city (preferably not NYC, but would take a job there if it was my best offer). My top choices would be Chicago, DC, LA, and SF

Career Goals
Biglaw to at least pay off my debt, but open to be swayed elsewhere during law school.

Numbers
3.61/169 and out of retakes

WUSTL isn't a bad choice here. Do you consider STL a "big city"? They do place alright in Chi/DC as well.

I wouldn't be opposed to STL, but I would prefer a bigger city like DC, Chicago, LA, SF, NYC though. I've also read that WUSTL struggles to place in STL unless you have ties to STL prior to attending.

WUSTL also has a lot of trouble reaching places like LA/SF. While it's true they have trouble placing in STL (the students are flight risks because the degree, whereas SLU and Mizzou are not), I saw you had ties to the Midwest. I wasn't sure what city this was from, but was hoping it was STL.

Ya my biggest complaint with WUSTL has been they don't place in their own city and seem to be rather sporadic in their placement for big law. I am in the process of negotiating with each schools.

I think NU is a solid option here.

This. You want to work in Chicago, so I think NU is worth the extra 100K considering WUSTL's much weaker placement. 150K isn't a bad price for NU, and you get to live in Chicago during law school too.

I want to make sure I understand: you have a scholarship at NU, or are you not factoring in COL? NU is NOT worth it at sticker, imo. Not even close.

I am factoring COL into my numbers. The numbers I included above is a total of what going to law school would cost me during the 3 years.
