Do you have no in the middle options like a lower T-14 with a significant scholarship?

This seems like a poor choice
Sit out this cycle, retake, blanket the T14 next cycle

Agreed. See if you can defer your Harvard acceptance too. I don't understand your application strategy.

Harvard. And I don't think it's all that close.
Reapplying is possible, but you won't get a hell of a lot better than $135k in debt.

Come back with an aid package.
biglaw isn't worth over 300k in debt. Maybe ED to northwestern-fullride if they still have it.

Why on earth didn't you apply to more schools
I agree with the above - reapply

I say Harvard if you end up getting a decent aid package. The reason I say this over reapply is because (someone correct me if I'm wrong) your numbers are great but on the low side for Harvard. You might not get that acceptance next cycle. Just something to think about.

OP has a 3.78/171. How many folks with those numbers are getting full rides to T14s? Maybe Cornell, maybe NU ED. But let's not kid ourselves, these are strong numbers but not killer.
This depends in part on H's aid package and OP's life and career goals. If he wants to settle down in St Louis at a local firm, there aren't many advantages from paying out the wazoo for a fancier degree. It seems that might be the case. But if they want to work elsewhere (OP mentioned flexibility) or in public service, this is an opportunity that might not come again. If Harvard can reduce your CoL to under $200k, it keeps my vote. If OP was eligible for a Rubenstein or Levy, this would be a different kind of choice, but they aren't.
As for Washington University, OP keep in mind that for security of offers at large market paying firms, you'll want to be in the top third of your class. That's a risk I wouldn't take with your numbers. I would vote reapply before WashU.

For someone that got a 171 on the first take, you sure fucked up the app strategy.
I agree with the sentiment of deferring Harvard and blanketing the T14 next cycle. Possibly retake as well.

Can you defer an acceptance and reapply? I thought deferring meant that you're obliged to attend the school you deferred the acceptance from?

Is it possible to defer admission and apply to other schools next cycle? Does Harvard not have any prohibitions on doing so?
I ask because I am thinking of deferring myself.

AFAIK deferral is binding

Not sure I get how Harvard would only cost 135k, maybe I missed something.
Go to H or sit a cycle, regardless. WUSTL is nice and all but is not in the same league as H in any way (and I go to WUSTL).
If I were you I would sit a yr, retake for a chance at more money, and blanket apply to the t14.
Could get your goal of a fully to Northwestern, Cornell, UVA, Mich, NYU, etc with a bit of an LSAT boost (I think).

Below both medians and got into H? Go to Harvard

I think the reapply/retake brigade is going a little crazy. This guy/gal got into Harvard with below median numbers, wants geographic/work choice flexibility, and thinks they'll get a decent aid package. Just go to Harvard.

In all fairness, don't those numbers get 150K at Cornell/Northwestern these days? I could be wrong though, I'm kinda out of touch so maybe not.
Thread is premature without real, fully negotiated options
You should have applied much more broadly
Srsly though: If things stand as they are/you said, go to Harvard. That's a no brainer.
