But man, you could probably get a good deal more money with a retake.

Based on the numbers out of this years OCI, UVA. Retake is credited for scholarship money, UVA Is generous. Improving from 165 shouldn't be hard, and will pay off in spades.

Vandy 2L here. WM and GW should be off your list, at least without full rides. I am going to DC, and it was tough. From the people I know, about 13/174 (don't know what our class size is with transfers added in) people are going to DC firms. I don't know how many tried and couldn't get DC, or how many got DC and went elsewhere. In any case, it's not a big number. Gtown and UVA have much better DC placement. Between what you have, UVA is the clear choice. But you should retake for more money because 180k is a fuckton of debt.

GULC 2L going into the DC market here: Not Georgetown. Retake - you'll likely get money from UVA if you get some from GULC. Maybe not much, but unless it's like UVA sticker v. significant money at GULC, UVA will always beat it.

Georgetown does fine for hiring, but the higher t13 will pretty much always do as well or better. The idea that proximity to DC firms somehow helps is not credited in my experience despite how hard GULC pushes it.

Will he actually get a better offer with a 3.2?

Probably. Looks similar to my offers with 3 and 170 non URM

He's not quite to the point where his splitter-ness will make higher LSATs have less and less dividends.

Retake is TCR. Then I'd probably aim for UVA with better scholarship

I agree with what others have said here about DC placement. However, NYC is the mecca for M&A transactional work, and securities to a certain extent as well. Contrary to your statement, NYC is not difficult to crack. I don't think either GULC or UVA are indefensible at this price if you bid both NYC and DC biglaw, but I certainly agree with others that you should retake for max scholarship money.

Not at all. NYC is the easiest biglaw market to crack.

Absolutely retake. If you get over 170, you're looking at either HS or a ton of money from UVA/GULC

Yeah, retake or don't go to law school. That's too much debt to justify attending.
