I might wait on Cornell before going to GULC, but can't hurt to negotiate

If all the numbers remain as they are, GULC is very likely worth the extra 37K (unless you want to do some niche public interest area where the additional prestige doesn't matter and you just want as little debt as possible). The name will stay with you for your entire career.

I think this is premature without giving Duke and Cornell more time to make you an offer

I think its safe to drop Emory/UCLA

How much debt will you be in at GULC/GW?

The hold list at Columbia is a way for them to leave you hanging for 4+ months before ultimately rejecting you. It's pretty much a soft rejection (or, at least it was 2 cycles ago, maybe things have changed). I'd retake in June if you want to try and sneak in there but that might not be enough.

Yeah, any advice is worthless without greater explanation as to what you actually want to get out of law school.

@ those numbers:

Corporate Law (Firm): GULC
General Litigation (Firm): GULC
Tax (Firm / Big 4): GULC (knowing you also need NYU LLM)
Clerkship?: GULC
IP Litigation / Prosecution / Transactions: GW
Public Interest (Debt-conscious): GW

Hold off and negotiate. People who accepted early over the last couple of years missed out on some serious cash.

GW is more of a feeder to Fish and Finnegan than GULC?

Idk, my IP friends cleaned up this year (even with beyond shitty GPAs).

And debt conscious thing for PI-- Gtown's LRAP is pretty sweet (they pay your payment if making < 65K)

I think OP is referring to Georgetown's Intent to Enroll form, which requires $0 and is due April 1 if you want to keep your scholarship. There is an expectation that if you submit the SIR you will deposit come May 1, but obviously you don't have to.

There is no way anyone can give you a good answer to this without knowing: (1) what your goals are; and (2) what your debt at repayment will be (or if you're paying in cash, what you're total bill will be including expected tuition increases).

As for my goals, BigLaw associate. Cornell, other than being in the middle of nowhere, may be good fit since I've heard their placements in BigLaw are solid.
You can safely drop GULC and GW now

See what Duke offers and then start negotiating

If biglaw is the goal, it's Cornell and it's not even close.

I'm going to use the 120k offer from Cornell to see if I can get Georgetown to move, then decide between those two offers. I contacted Georgetown to see if they would increase their offer; haven't heard back yet.

I also emailed Duke for an update to see if they were going to offer any money at all. Should hear back soon.
Don't cut your negotiations short. Sometimes school where you are waitlisted will come through with big money late. I have a friend who was offered 120k off the UVA waitlist last year and used it to increase a scholarship offer at a different T14.
