I know, people are going to laugh, but I've recently been spammed by Charlotte School of Law and became curious- is there such a thing as a good for-profit law school? Have any of these schools ever made it to tier 1? Anyone know anything about this? I'd obviously never consider attending anything other than tier 1 but it's just something interesting to talk about.

There is no such thing as a good for-profit law school, as far as I know. But the for-profit/nonprofit distinction is meaningless. What matters the likelihood of obtaining good employment. For that, consult
http://www.lstscorereports.com.
For an interesting look at the for-profit network that operates, among others, Charlotte School of Law, see

I actually just read that article. LSATs in the 140s, wholly crap!

Exactly this, the shareholders are just different. In non-profit schools any "profits" just gets distributed among the Deans, Chancellors, senior profs, and whoever else is at the top. In for-profit colleges it just goes to whoever owns the college.

I like that analysis- apparently Michigan's dean is getting upwards of 400k!

It's not just this way for law schools though. Lots of non-profits do that shit.
