What if you want to work in Chicago?

Hi everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster. Besides the obvious northwestern and university of Chicago, what other t-14 schools have the best placement in Chicago? Any help/links are very appreciated! Thanks

After having gone through OCI and hearing some various stories from people, I think a lot of it for Chicago is ties and the sensitivity of firms in Chicago for people having them/having the intention to stay. You can probably get to Chicago from any T-14 with solid grades, but I would think (without a really strong basis for it) that going to say NYU/Columbia/other schools out east signal maybe that you prefer NYC...maybe the same for Duke/Georgetown/Virginia for DC etc.
I personally think it's surprising how much Chicago firms care about ties, but from my experience and that of others, it's a big deal out here.

What's the angle here? Love Chicago but don't want to go to school there? Not good enough for NU, but could swing Cornell/Michigan/GULC?
I don't know, but I would guess keeping U of I, ND, and Wash U on your radar would be a good idea. If you're only on the fringe of T14, you can probably get good money at any of those and they do 25-30% big firm with IL as the #1 (or nearly #1) landing place. I know people in Chicago biglaw and all of these schools are genuinely respected.

I think Michigan, but as long as you have good ties and intentions to stay you should be alright (assuming grades are where they need to be).

UC (29%), Michigan (15%) and NU 37%) are the only three T14s that have Illinois has one of the three largest employment states from ABA's most recent reports. After that, WUSTL (12%), Notre Dame (16%) and Iowa (11%). This obviously doesn't speak to the quality of the jobs in the state, but still.

Also, UIUC - 59.7%
