Cornell outperforming peers BL/FC placement?

Based off the aba yearly reports on graduate employment statistics, cornell outperforms peers like UVA, Mich, NW for biglaw and fed clerkship placement. Is it because Cornell grads mainly target nyc, and grads from other schools target harder markets and strike out? All else aside, (location, quality of life etc...) if biglaw is the goal, would i be best served going to cornell, as opposed to other low ranking t14?

Cornell has had some weird outlier years in both directions (take a look at 2011) but the consensus is that if you target NYC from any of Cornell or its peers your chances are basically the same. Cornell actually does its OCI in Manhattan which might help a little.

All those schools are close enough that I wouldn't take year to year fluctuations very seriously. Things like cost/geographic region the school is located in/personal factors should be the considerations IMO.

Cornell is almost always credited because if you have gotten into Michigan/Duke/UVA, chances are your COA will be lower at Cornell, especially the way they threw money around last year.

Ithaca can be expensive as hell, though. Not to mention dat $60K tuition. Michigan might be cheaper even with $20-30K less in scholarships.

On the COL side of things, Ann Arbor is by no means cheap either though.

charlottesville is dirt cheap too; my buddy is paying like 350/month granted its a shithole but its worth it to minimize debt.

AA and Ithaca are similar in COL; both seem to specialize in gouging undergraduates with rich parents. Crappy housing at distorted prices. Still, after C'Ville and Durham, they have to be the cheapest T14s ...
