Actual Placement vs Placement Power

From what I've read on these forums, NYC is the easiest market to crack without ties and expressing interest in corporate is better than lit. I know there is a lot of self-selection which is difficult to take into account from reading LST (Chicago could prolly do as well as columbia if they gunned NYC, GULC is in a shitty market)
1. If one were to go all out and gun NYC (really wouldnt even want to work anywhere else) for anything market paying, how does the T14 rank? Does Penn really have an advantage or is it self-selection? Is GULC really that bad or would they do as well as Cornell grads if they both went for NYC?
2. How does an IP boost lessen the gap between T6 and T14 (bio UG at a top school - weak, but still lets me go to IP fairs)? And how about an AA boost?

you mentioned georgetown twice. are you trying to gain tacit support to attend GULC? What's your COA?

There's no clear answer. The best evidence would be the composition of the summer associate classes just hired at various firms. Comparing the credentials of the Watchell/Williams group. to the Cravath/SullCrom Level, to the NY v10, to the elite/most in every major market, then to the 2nd/3rd/4th tiers in every major market.
But you're not gonna get that.
Also, IP is a huge boost depending on if you want to do Patent Lit and your'e EE/CS, or Life Science PhD.

I mentioned them in particular because of their lower placement compared to other T14, which I think I think might be due the DC market and self selection into govt. Im asking if a G student with the same class ranking from DCN would have the same chance or if there is something actually wrong with G.

I know a PhD is preferred for life sciences at the IP boutiques, and for patent pros. but would a regular BSc. offer even a little boost going into IP Lit coming from a T14?
