1. I know many people who are interested in public interest (enough to skip OCI altogether). I obviously havent attended other schools to compare but I do have friends at a few other schools and it seems BC students are more interested in public interest than the average (though dont quote me on this). While many students did OCI/want to work for big firms it's certainly not out of the ordinary to find PI-dedicated people. Not sure what you mean by "tailor well" but many people participate in the gov/pi fairs and get internships that way.wow-much-law wrote:I've got more than a few if you don't mind fielding them...
Based on what you've experienced so far does BC tailor well toward public interest? How's the Newton campus? Do you have a car/is it advisable to have a car? Any experiences with gunners or the like? How's the campus gym if there is one?
thanks friend
I'd agree with Brut. Our ranking and medians have gone down last few years. Ordinarily I would say you probably dont have a strong shot but at this point.. who knows. I'd def apply. BC is not as numbers focused as BU and does some weird things every year. Not sure if theyre more holistic or what but I remember from my cycle, the consensus was BC was a bit unpredictable.RaiderRed wrote:I got a fee waiver and accelerated 10 day decision offer from BC, but I only have a 160 (waiting on Sept. retake) and a 3.58. Does this mean they want me to apply to reject me or do I actually have a chance at admission?
sorry, no idea. I'm a 2L so i have a decent feel of this year's oci and the 3Ls cycle but not really sure what's going on with alums.BlueLotus wrote:What proportion of c/o 2013/2014 kiddos are stuck in the Vale?

Thank you for answering the questions.
Best of luck on the retake. You have a chance with your #s as they are, but BC is NOT worth sticker. Don't go unless you get a 3/4 scholly or higher.RaiderRed wrote:I got a fee waiver and accelerated 10 day decision offer from BC, but I only have a 160 (waiting on Sept. retake) and a 3.58. I'm hoping for a good scholly. I applied ED to BU as well, but I've already been accepted to BC at this point. How do you negotiate scholarships exactly? Any insight you have for BC specifically or is there just a thread I need to read to understand the concept?skri65 wrote:RaiderRed wrote:Got it yesterday. 164BlueLotus wrote:Best of luck on the retake. 2L here, will be happy to answer questions. You're set with the 164 btw, expect a healthy scholarship. For those worried about money (everyone?), be willing to play hardball with BC. They were more than willing to negotiate when I applied.
Money was a big issue for me, so I applied to a few comparable schools and used the scholarship offers from the comparable schools as leverage to get a higher scholarship at BC. A polite, respectful, yet assertive e-mail should be fine...the email should probably outline that money is an issue, and that you would be unable to accept BC's offer of admissions without a certain $$$ because comparable school XYZ has offered you $$$...emphasizing that you love BC and just need the finances to work can go a long way in this situation. Note that this is what worked for me, but your mileage may vary...there are other threads on this topic and other strategies may be more effective than mine. For what it is worth, I was able to up my scholarship by 7K. Good luck!RaiderRed wrote:I'm hoping for a good scholly. I applied ED to BU as well, but I've already been accepted to BC at this point. It certainly does, and it's even weirder to be on the other side of this kind of thread.AlanShore wrote:skri, doesnt it seem like ages ago that we were applying?? crazy
you'll definitely get in. with money.180kickflip wrote:What sort of admission chances/scholly amounts should a 163/3.2 URM expect at BC this cycle? I'll be applying to both BC and BU (considering BU ED), but with the recent median shifts, I don't know what to expect.
I'd also love to hear what you guys think you'd need (or actually got) from BC to make them worth taking over a t14 school.
Thanks for taking questions!
From a statistical perspective, it is worth noting the number of school-funded jobs by the two schools. Besides this minor nuance, this question is very hard to answer because (1) I don't go to BU, and (2) much of the BC/BU preference is just that--a matter of personal preference.RaiderRed wrote:What are the advantages/disadvantages of BC vs BU? I've looked at employment numbers and basic LST stats, but what other info would be helpful?
Go to the one you get the most money at. If a tie, visit both and go to the one you like better. They have very different feels and chances are you'll "click" with one or the other.RaiderRed wrote:What are the advantages/disadvantages of BC vs BU? Perhaps if you know anyone with similar numbers to mine, and have an idea of whether or not they received scholarships (let alone gained admission!), that would be really helpful!
LSAT: 165
GPA: 3.97
What do you think? Could I be looking at some financial help?
