All Florida law schools are seeing declines in applications, except... FAMU!

UF shouldn't be surprised when 1) they're one of few among their peers that doesn't offer fee waivers and 2) they're known for being somewhat stingy with $ (though they were about on par for FSU for me at least.

That may be true, but the article discusses applications -- not enrollments.

Related, Barry just sent me a pre-application scholy consideration letter. Unfortunately for Barry, 14k off sticker is about half of what I would require to even consider going to FL.

Doesn't have the legal market of any state of that size, at least for biglaw. There are like 20 SA's total between Tampa and Orlando, and maybe 20-30ish more in Miami/South Florida, but that is about it.

Fair, but they should at least have a WUSTL. One of those TTTs should be able to outcompete the others. Instead... is there even a single school with a 160 median?

Florida State probably comes the closest to a 160 median.... Pecking order in this state for state schools only goes FSU/UF>> Miami and the TTTs/TTTTs that do just as well as Miami in job placement (Stetson, FIU, Nova.... Source: Many local attorneys/LST employment score)>>>>> The rest of the TTTTs- St. Thomas, Ave Maria, FL Coastal, Barry, FAMU... It's really the bottom tier schools that are really in trouble. FSU/UF do well throughout the state while the next group of Miami, Nova, FIU and Stetson do well in their regions (Miami for FIU/U of Miami, Broward/Palm Beach for Nova, Tampa for Stetson)..

I struck out in central Florida coming from Yale. I have a hard time understanding why someone would want to go to any law school in Florida.

Were you biglaw or bust? There's not many biglaw firms here. You'll see alot of midlaw stuff working in civil areas like family and personal injury but there's not a lot of opportunity here for corporate work.

FSU and UF both claim to have been founded in the 1850s, but the reality is that UF wasn't really a university until around 1920 and FSU was a "girl's school" until around 1950. All of those states had much larger populations than Florida until very recently. Two of them still do.
