I am glad to convey the happy news, that Greg, the man you all so much revere, is back!
Anyone applying to DU?
How is Denver as a place to live?

I'm so happy you're back.
As for Denver, don't go if you have asthma with the altitude and all. Go some place closer to sea level like UMiami.

This thread would be vastly improved if we were invited to compare this school to some random other school in a state far, far away from Colorado.

My friend above just said it....U of Miami....so don't hold yourself....compare away my friend!
Actually both of those schools are my backup schools!
1- Northwestern ...first choice then
2-Emory
3-GW
4-Houston
5- U of Miami
6- U of Denver

Would rather live in Denver than any of the other cities you listed. DU gives out a lot of good scholarships, and the competition for top grades, mock/moot teams, law review, etc., will be less than at some of those other schools you mentioned.

Where are your ties, Gregjames? (I don't mean in the closet)
You need a coherent list for your stats and regional preference.
Example:
#1) Northwestern
#2) Notre Dame
#3) Illinois
OR
#1) Emory
#2) UGA
#3) Georgia State
YANNO?

That list of schools have one important factor in common (for me):
1- I would get one year advanced standing for my LL.B and thus finish the J.D in two years.
also
2- I want to be in a big City.
Only Houston ties would matter, as Texas was my last of state of residency so I might get instate rate.
So ties are not the deciding factor. Reputation of the school and prospects are the main factosr; along with the advanced standing.

Well by the lay person, not so good in the legal community.

So if it comes to it UMiami would be a better choice

The idea that DU isn't well perceived in the CO legal community is laughable.

I went to CU, not DU. But so many of my colleagues are DU grads, etc. and they're well respected.

Do u like Denver as a city? R u gonna work there or plan to leave Colorado? How about facilities at DU compared to your school.

Dick, sometimes peps in CO laugh at DU. You must have witnessed this. The school used to have basically open enrollment and a bar passage rate of 60%. Many older lawyers remember this, plus many of your peers at CU turned down full rides at DU. They did this for a reason.
I'm one of those TLSers than believe in the big fish small pond phenomenon, so I think DU is a good option with $$$. But let's not act like my characterization of DU's rep as "not so good" is way off base.

You probably shouldn't go to either of those schools w/o ties to the area.
but if it came down to it, i.e my only choices...which one?
