Comparing UC Hastings vs Santa clara university

I do realize that both these schools are a tier below Berkely and Stanford in the bay area, but looking past that, just by looking at LST, does it seem that Santa Clara has better employment numbers compared to Hastings, despite being lower ranked?. Is that the case, or am i misinterpreting LST. Santa clara seems to me to have better employment score, lesser underemployment, lesser school funded jobs.

Hastings is a shithole. A trap school of the highest order. Do not go under any circumstances.
Santa Clara is a shithole. Not a trap school, because it's obvious the school sucks. Do not go under any circumstances.
Retake.

Don't bother making sense of either schools numbers. Don't even bother applying to either school. The only schools worth going to in the bay are Stanford and Berkeley. If you want to stay in California (and have a job after graduation) then apply to USC and UCLA as well.
However, if I recall correctly, Santa Clara has those numbers because a portion of their students get their JDs subsidized by their current job which tend to be tech related, which is also why they claim a significant portion of their students ends up doing IP.

trust me i really get that they are huge risks and schools with not so hot employment in an area with high legal saturation. I really do get that but this was not about comparing hastings/santa clara with other schools, it was about comparing just hastings vs santa clara. Looks like u think too santa clara is better than hastings? reasons? and bay area students from these schools, please chime in! thank you!

I'm not sure where you're getting that Santa Clara is better than Hastings. Santa Clara's employment numbers are misleading, (or so I've heard) because a lot of the students already have jobs lined up: their employer is sending them to law school. If that's not you, don't go.

I never said SC is better than Hastings. I said that Hastings is a trap school.
You obviously don't "get that they are huge risks" because you've been told this time and again on TLS, yet you continue to weigh the benefits of one of these tire fires against the other.
There is no comparing these two schools in a vacuum, because outside that vacuum employers are hiring Stanford and Berk grads.
Retake.

I think what Adrian Monk was trying to get at is that UC Hastings tries to sell itself as more than it is by using its affiliation to the UC system. Santa Clara on the other hand has no preftige it can claim to so its can't trick/trap students as easily as UC Hastings.
But you're missing the point. They're both shitholes.

Hastings is a public school that costs residents $300,000 to attend at sticker. The US News rankings are finally accounting for employment, which has Hastings in a nose-dive, but prior to the change Hastings looked (to naive 0Ls) like a good school.
Now the dean is trying to do damage control and stop the bleeding, but the word is out.
Almost no one is in danger of mistaking SC for a good school, so it can't be a trap.

any santa clara students in this board want to comment on how the school is now when it comes to employment prospects compared to few years ago?

Yes the employment helps to their decline but their collapsing medians also equally contribute to their decline.

The collapsing medians correlate with the inclusion of employment stats in US News. I would speculate that the medians are adjusting relative to placement power.

Look, I think you know what we're going to tell you. If you want to work in small firm practice or local/state gov and get a full-ride, both would probably be okay choices. If you have no hard IP background but want to be some fancy VC lawyer and schmooze with techies then go to Berkeley or Stanford or not at all. 42% LST employment scores for both schools (SC's probably inflated by IP people) are abysmal.

TLS wiki's article on UC Hastings is especially misleading under "Employment Prospects".
