I would also add that the COL NU gives is inflated. In addition to it being high you can easily move a little bit farther away from city center (not suburbs but an additional ten minutes on the el) and shave off a couple more thousand in rent.

Yeah I didn't want to say much for free of talking out of my ass (I haven't started law school yet) but 22K a year COL for Chicago is high.
