I know... please just humor me though. Same cost. Biglaw.

If same cost means sticker then no to both.
But anyway, both the LR student at MVP and the median student at CCN will get BigLaw if they want it, so it's kind of a wash.
Why are you asking? Is this one of those weird scenarios where the poster is super confident they'll be LR at the lower ranked school?

first of all the term mvp is meaningless, these sub-tier groupings aren't useful
just say uva, we can see you got in
and apparently you've been posting in columbia '17
so the question is really -- law review at uva vs median at columbia
next, the difference between uva and columbia is not nearly great enough to assume that a student hitting median at columbia makes lr at uva, or vice versa
honestly if it came down to uva and columbia, i'd just go to whichever one offered more money (if it was within 10k i'd prob go to columbia, but then again, i want to land in ny)
finally, if this is a decision thread, you need to post the info in the sticky
there is nothing posted here that could be construed as useful in helping you choose

Are we assuming that MVPB graded on to LR? If so, then I would rather have graded-on to LR at MVPB than median at a CCN. Of course, it's impossible to predict ahead of time. Your just as likely to be median at MVPB, or on LR at CCN.

Law Review at MVP. But please, please don't think your median or top third student at CCN's even remotely close to guaranteed Law Review at MVP. I don't care how hard you think you'll work. Everyone works hard and everyone has debt, this isn't like undergrad. You're already fooling yourself if you think you're guaranteed to get median.
Half of a self-selected group of insanely smart people has to hit median or below. Think about that.
I go to a CCN school and I don't think I'm smarter than those people in the slightest. Hell, I'd bet a vast majority could've gone here but went with a little more scholarship money.

LOL.
Seeing as LR decisions for Mich came out today, and your last post about admissions was over a year ago, I am guessing this is about whether to transfer or not. I don't think your chances of biglaw change much, but that's just me.

Median at HCC won't get you any job that grade on LR at Penn or UVa wouldn't. The advantage of those slightly more competitive programs is their pull with the most elite firms in New York and in harvard's case DC. For most law firms, judges ect the median kid at a higher school won't be as impressive as the law review top 10% student at a very good school with lower placement for bottom half of the class.

Okay, whatever, law review at NYU, Penn or UVa wouldn't. Or median at Harvard, Columbia, Chicago, NYU would. Doesn't matter the point is not how the schools are classified on tls.

Really this depends on whether you are talking HYSChi or just Columbia/NYU. Assuming the latter, then obvs no you shouldn't transfer.

Go look at HLS EIP threads over the years, and the advice given out this year, and tell me what firms 2H/8P will snag you that top 10%/Law Review at Penn won't. Same goes for below stone at CLS. And consider all the firms you're actually locked out of at that level. Consider Sullivan: you can easily reach CB top of the class mich or penn, but you won't stand much of a chance shy of 3.6 or 5H's.
If we're talking about elite firm placement, this is just the reality.
Once you get to law school and work at a firm your perspective on this will change, I
promise you.

2 Hs is below median to some degree. You're comparing below median to top 10% with law review.
5 Hs is like top 40% or something. Show me that other non-HYS schools are placing top 40% kids into elite law firms.
