COA at UCLA: ~$110,000
COA at NYU: paying sticker, so around $250,000+

Will finance COA with loans and some help from family.

From Southern California, but want to work in NYC. However, I understand LA is a major legal market as well. Plan to do biglaw for as long as it's tenable, then thinking in-house if possible. I really value mobility with a law degree. My numbers are 171/3.6, and I took the LSAT once.

How much family help are we talking? Neither of those options seem great to me, really. I imagine UCLA places some people in NYC, but probably not too many. NYU would certainly get you NYC Big Law, but that is so, so much debt. No other options? Cornell w/$$$$?

As SpanishMain suggested, since you actually want to work in new york, any T13 will do. Usually with those numbers you'd have $60k at UVa or Northwestern or $75k at Cornell lying around. Did you really get no bites between UCLA and NYU?
