Yeah it also makes no sense as a goal.

Go to Columbia for free. It's known to be an excellent law school.
Retaking for Harvard is a waste of time.

If it makes you feel better I accidentally found this forum when I was trying to talk my sister's friend into not retaking a 178 for Yale when she had a Harvard acceptance. People think crazy stuff all the time.

Note: you will probably end up in big law from either school.

Your question has already been answered...sorta.

TL;DR Take the school that will leave you with the least amount of debt upon graduation.

You do realize people work MORE in boutiques because the work needs to get done and less people are there to do it.

columbia. not sure what you mean by "worth it." It's not worth it by any quantifiable measure...you can make yourself think there's a lot of difference and build it up in your mind, but nothing substantiates it, unless your goals are truly unique. Large firm work from Columbia and Harvard is equally attainable.

If you won't be happy unless you go to a particular law school, then so be it. There's nothing "worth it" here though.

Why would you apply to CLS if you wouldn't be satisfied attending? It's not like you could negotiate your scholarship there with Harvard.

I am beyond pleased that I got into CLS and would be very happy attending. I never thought I'd be in this position before I got my score. I really just created this thread to have logical minds give their opinion on my situation. Like you said, the difference can be built up in one's head.

I've never been deadset on any particular law school. I shot for HLS knowing that if I could get my numbers around there I'd have some good options.
no offense taken. I understanding wanting a particular school. I even understand declining to attend certain schools you applied to if you would incur substantial debt. I just don't understand not attending a top program you specifically applied to, where you won't be incurring debt, once having been admitted, unless you're disclaiming law altogether.

How much of it is scholarship and how much is savings/parental contribution. I don't care how rich you are, if it is not significant scholarship money, I'd retake or go to a lower T14 for dimes on the dollar

Just take Columbia. No use waiting with these options imo. Foregoing lawschool for a year for a shot at HYS is kinda pointless if you already have full coverage at CLS. If you get off HS wait-list, you may want to take S since you want to avoid NYC. That's really the only problem with Columbia here, since you stated you don't want NYC. If you don't have ties to a big city though, that may be where you end up anyway.
