with no ties I like WashU here because of the lower debt, especially since you liked the city more.

Eh, UT's worth more than WUSTL, but I don't know about $50k more.

What do you mean by midlaw and do those type of firms hire freshly-minted grads from those schools?

Maybe I used the wrong terminology. I just meant that I am fine working in a smaller firm or a firm in a smaller market.

You liked Wash U better and you don't really seem to have a preference on where you want to practice. Wash U seems to have better placement stats out of its region, though that may be due to self-selection. But they're both peers so I'd go for the cheaper option based on what you've said thus far.

I wouldn't go that far. UT is def better than WashU for placement. Whether or not it is right for the OP, I donno. close call

I'm going off memory, so I could be wrong, but I believe Wash U places better nationally. Again though, could be due to self-selection since Texas is a strong market but there's no way to really tell.

Less than 25% of Wash U grads stay in Missouri(if I remember correctly).

WUSTL and UT aren't peers but I would probably do WUSTL if you're comfortable being in the Midwest. UT isn't worth 100k.

I think UT is worth 100k including COL but that's another argument.

Yea, I am kinda curious about OP's total COA, because he subtracted savings/wife's contribution from it, because I KNOW washU is closer to 80k at least with a 120k scholly.
Maybe I am overestimating cost of livings but minus savings and a conservative estimate of my wife`s earnings I have around 160k for Texas and 120k for WashU total.

I think UT places better nationally than WashU for the kids who want it. I'm a UT student going to nyc, and my grades weren't that amazing. Most the kids here really DO want to stay in TX...that's not an untrue generalization at all.
